I with my family visited Nuwaraeliya(City of Light) for a holiday and stayed in Central Bank Circuit Bungalow as I am a Central Banker, situated by the Grand Hotel. The city also known as the little England because of the weather. It's altitude is 1868mts and the highest mountain at the middle of Sri Lanka, Pidurutalagala (2524mts) is situated close by. The city is famous with nicely maintained golf ground, Gregory Lake and Victoria Park. For bird watching lovers there are lots of places. The Horton plains situated about 20kms away also very attractive with its huge grass plains, mist, waterfalls, plants, sambar and leopard various type trees etc. There is a place called Worlds End, at a edge of a mountain cliff, when there is a thick mist you feel like you at the end of the world!
The Victoria Park and the carefully maintaining Hakgala Botanical Garden gives an oppertinity to learn about the environment. Also the Horton Plains.
The Seethadevi Kovil is related to Maha Bharathaya in India and have a historic value.
As there are lots of good hotels and transport facilities, it is worth to visit Nuwaraeliya more than once!
