Private Day Trip: Horton Plains and Pedro Tea Factory from Nuwara Eliya
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 16 June 2014 via mobile

We trekked with my children for this wonderful Horton plains national park, world's end in December 2012. Started early morning from Nuwara Eliya with packed breakfast. After reading in TA forums, decided as must visit place. As expected, it worked out well with pleasant climate .. Wonderful nature.. 9+ km long trekking track ..mostly plain track. Lovely walk through valleys and streams, spectacular views....
When we were at world's end, clouds escalated from downhill and moved top very quickly . Bakers Waterfalls on the way of trekking path.
Carry your food and water, only a small shop available near entrance. Entrance ticket bit expensive for foreigners. Worthy and must visit place..

It takes about 30-45min to get to the entrance of Worlds end strict nature reserve if you are based somewhere in Nuwara Eliya. The average vehicle will find it difficult with the steep climb best is a 4x4, you can drive only up to the entrance thereafter the circular hiking trip is entirely on foot, good walking shoes are highly recommended, take water with you but don't litter bottles at any point, if you are certain of making the whole 8-9 kilo meter hike around the plaines you must continue after the small worlds end, thereafter visit the Bakers falls area and return to the same point where you started on a circular route. Wonderful array of Fauna, Flora and animals could be spotted. If you are lucky you can see herds of Elk deer, Birds, Spotted deer and towards the evening if you are extremely lucky even a leopard at a distance though very rare. Tiring hike must be ready to hydrate enough, start early morning or just after the sun shades down. It's one of the most scenic areas in Sri Lanka one could walk of.....

We walked some kilometres until we arrived at world's end. This is one of the highest places in sri lanka - aprox 2300m above sea level. From this point, one is able to see mountains and villages down below, and also a river! Great view!

A lovely trek but recommended for the fit only. Approximately 5kmto trek to this point , Weather usually good enables a comfortable trek. carry your own water bottle since the ten KM stretch does not have any such option other then water from the streams and waterfalls
