We stayed at the Haddon Hill Hotel for one night - the room itself was rather small but clean and comfortable despite the size, the bed was good and bathroom clean.

Breakfast was a bit of a let down - I ordered boiled eggs, one came out stone cold and the other warm but undercooked! They did have decent sausages though!

I could not link to the Wifi they said they had for some reason.

The hotel is located someway up a hill so it would be quite a walk down to the main town area should you not have a driver with you.

We stayed at Haddon Hill as our first choice was fully booked - we tried 5/6 before stopping at Haddon Hill but found the prices for Nuwara Eliya to be on the high side to say the least so for the area this hotel offers value for money even if it is still expensive for the rest of Sri Lanka.

The cleanliness was below average and the smell of food fumes from the kitchen was unpleasant. The food was poor. Warm beer. A bit overpriced at 4500 rb.

We arrived in Nuwara Eliya a couple of days before New Year's eve without a reservation not expecting the town to be almost completely booked out.
Fortunately we had out mountain bikes with us which gave us a chance to check out some of the properties.
Of the ones that were available Haddon Hill was the pick of the crop. Rooms, albeit small, are nicely decorated and spotlessly clean. Good hot shower and bathroom and the room we stayed in had an excellent, new mattress.
There is a sitting / TV area where you can have a cup of tea and other guests can be met. Quite a few were regulars at Haddon Hill, coming back year after year.
We did not have any meals at the hotel but the scents coming out of the kitchen smelled yummy.
Other hotels we looked at that had availability included Alpine Hotel and Single Tree hotel on the same road, Glendower and Windsor Hotels, some others I can't remember but Haddon Hill was definitely the pick of the crop.
We were also impressed with the pleasant service and the LKR 3500++ we paid seem like good value for money considering prices and quality of the other options and the fact that this was in high season.
