“A little gem!”
Reviewed 5 August 2014

They don't have that many staff. So, service can get a bit hap hazard. However, it's a very minor matter. Overall, the service is eager and helpful. And very, very friendly! Food is great. The chef prepares the western meals- which are good and the chef's assistant prepares mouth-wateringly exquisite Sri Lankan/ Asian dishes. The rooms are nice and clean with comfy beds. Excellent value for money. Great location.

Excellent service, friendly staff, comfortable beds with thick pillows, towels and mattresses (not always the case in budget accommodation). Food was excellent. Avoid the western or Chinese options. The cook made us Sri Lankan curry and rice - came with 7 dishes! All superb. They even made us a packed lunch to take on our early start to World's End @ 5:00am. Staff were up, breakfast to go and a pot of tea ready. Can't ask for more. Thank you x

Room Tip: Lake view optional. enjoyed looking out over the tea plantations. So both good!

The best thing in this budget hotel is service. The service provided by staff is very personalized and it feels great. Food is really great and you have to admit that they are doing a good job. Rooms are ok for the price and you can really have a nice time there. Convenient location. If you have any bad experience, do not hesitate to tell them. Get things done as you want rather than being quite about things. The staff will be more than delighted to help you out. It is not like the so called Five star hotels where the service is average. You will feel like spending time with very understanding people who strives to help you out.

Room Tip: Try Room 301 or 304

This place is lovely, a quite calm sleeply town, the hotel itself is full of character and charm. I had a great sleep, lovely wak around the lake and explored the streets here, you can horse ride too as there is a yard just up the road, lovely staff and comfortable place.

We stayed in this hotel on our way up to Kandy. One of our party was handicapped (wheelchair) and we had had some difficult times in Sri Lanka, but the manager and staff at Pello Lake did everything they could to accommodate us - we even had our own dining area set up on the ground floor. Value for money was also excellent: the manager reduced our hotel fees and the cost of meals (which were very good). And for once we had free wifi access.
