“Little Heaven in Nuwara Eliya”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 October 2013

Wijitha approached me when I got off the bus from Colombo and from then I was treated as a friend and a guest. He made breakfast and endless cups of tea. He was happy to show me around the town and even took me on a tour of the area on a motor bike I hired through Wijitha at a very reasonable rate. He also offered to take me trekking around the area but due to time was unable to do - would have been great.

The rooms where built by Wijitha and he is so proud of his little cottages and lovely gardens surrounding them and he has plans for more renovations. The rooms are charming and such great value with the fire place (not cold enough to light but still cute). The bath room was neat and the shared area out the front of the cottages is lovely to chill in - not just stuck in your bedroom.

For the price you are definately getting value for money. The only downside is it's around 5-10mins walk to town or 100 rupee in a Tuk Tuk which is nothing.

Thanks Wijitha for a lovely visit to Nuwara Eliya - I hope to return sometime soon.

We were approached by Wijitha at the bus station and along with a Russian couple went with him to 'Little Heaven'. We were pleasantly suprised by it's quaintness and once we had sat down and had a chat with Wijitha we were satisfied that it was an actual guest house!!!! There is no signage and it is in the middle of no-where! Wij made us tea and told us about his aspirations, be prepared to listen- he has lots to say! Wij took us for dinner, with was at a random house about a 20 minute walk away..... but if you can see past a rather rustic dining room and get into the mood I'm sure you will enjoy the experience- the food was amazing! And only 200 rupees each! The rom itself was nice (but a bit damp) and the bathroom was very clean! Watch the prices though, hot water was extra, as was fire, and then even more to get the logs! Wij said he was also a tour guide (not sure if actually is) but we let him take us out for the day- a sunrise trek, up the mountains, through Gallway forest, through tea plantations, a potentially dangerous (!!) climb to lovers leaf waterfall and then to Pedro Tea Estate. I think we paid him $20 each and we were out for about 7 hours. My friend unfortunately got bitten by a dog but Wij was very good and took us to the hospital in a tuk tuk which he paid for.

Room Tip: Both double beds and the same really so it doesn't matter!
