“Cheap and cheerful”
Reviewed 27 March 2014

Massive portions, good service and good prices for some standard Sri Lankan/Asian food. I had the veggie Kotthu Roti and it was good. Nothing special at all, but you can sit and have a beer.

“try food at a local restaurant”
Reviewed 23 March 2014

We were staying at The Hill Club but we wanted to try something local. We were made welcome at this local restaurant. It was like sitting in a poly tunnel with the plastic chairs and tables but somehow it had an ambience about it that we liked. The friendly guy suggested we try the Kottu, a local dish of chopped bread dough fried with diced vegetables and chicken. It was delightful. We had it with a couple of beers and it cost us less than a tenner no Vat or other taxes associated with the hotels. After eating in the Hill Club the following day both meals were a unique experience with good food. Give it a go and eat locally for a change.

“Do not ever enter this restaurant”
Reviewed 15 March 2014 via mobile

OMG does not even sum this place up. Looks like a cowshed. They recommend something that is not even on the menu, special madam, but it is 2400 rupees for a pile of salty slop. So you order something else, which again is not what your ordered, another 1500 rupees, 800 rupees for 'special cocktail' and suddenly 6800 rupees later and they think because they haven't added service charge this is a steal. Well let me tell you......

“big disappointment”
Reviewed 7 March 2014

During our stay in nuwara eliya, we came 3 times to eat in this restaurant. 2 times for lunch, food was good, service efficient and relatively fast (for sri lanka). However, the third time, they really took advantage of our loyalty and trust. We came for breakfasts, we took 2 coffees, 3 fruit juice and 2 roti and the bill was 1880 roupies! Which is the price we used to pay for a very good dinner. Actually, the boss knew we were leaving the city right after and gave us a menu without the prices. We did not ask for prices as rates for lunch were really reasonnable!

“mixed, won't be back”
Reviewed 1 March 2014

We usually like to try local places and didn't want to eat lunch at the Grand hotel where we were staying, but we were overall disappointed with this place. Prices seemed tourist oriented for what we got. Truly sensational fresh rotti which was worth the price but the nasi goreng was a bit average and I paid for it for a day or so. Excellent friendly service but overpriced food. I recommend walking up the road 2 minutes to the Grand hotel pastry shop and get a couple of chicken pies for a light lunch, super tasty at a fraction of the price.
