Service is excellent; they wait on you hand and foot. The range and quality of the food at the buffet dinner is very pleasing.

I particularly liked the band that played during dinner time. A quirky local take on a range of classic 80s hits. I loved it.

Dear Guest, Many thanks for your review. We are delighted with the fact that we were able to provide you an enjoyable stay. We look forward to a year with many value additions to the Grand experience, including an authentic Thai Restaurant manned by a Chef flown in from Thailand, and many more additions in our Food & Beverage program. As always our focus will also be on improving our customer care, to be on par with the best of the best. Our Nature program which is growing in popularity is an option that is well received by our guests. All this is put together to make your next stay with us longer and even more enjoyable. We do hope your stay in Sri Lanka was a good one and hope to see you again.
Happy Christmas and warm wishes for new year filled with love and Joy, from all of us at the Grand. Sincerely, Resident Manager.

Stayed 3 nights in Room 260 in the newer Golf Wing recently. Here’s a quick review of my stay.

Pros
• Gardens/grounds are beautifully maintained.
• Our Rm 260, though small, was adequate. Certainly not grand but it was clean and everything worked. Housekeeping did a great job with twice-daily turndowns. Heating from ‘fireplace’ did the job nicely.
• Generally, staff were very helpful and friendly.
• Laundry was cheap but it comes with a price. Every piece of clothing we sent were marked with our Room number in permanent ink!

Cons
• Food quality and selection was erratic throughout our stay. Generally, our group agreed that the food quality was far superior in the Main Dining Room. Lunches at Magnolia Coffee Shop failed to impress. So did the limited dining/never changing selection for Full Board guests.
• When the chefs are cooking in the Main Dining Room, watch out! The ventilation is so bad that you’ll smell the food in your hair, clothes etc even if you’re sitting at the farthest table away in the Dining Hall. We had to send in our clothes for laundry every evening thus.
• At checkout, we were charged for a Club Soda we didn’t order. Didn’t make a fuss as we were in a hurry. Nevertheless, check your bill.
Overall a pleasant stay. But please fix the ventilation in the main Dining Hall!

Dear Guest, Many thanks for your review. We are happy to note that you were able to enjoy most of the services provided by us. We have already taken remedial action about the marking of items in the laundry. We had the best stay ever in this hotel were we cancelled our trip to the Southern part & extended our stay here, due to the service provided with the friendliness of the staff & as well the location of the hotel. the reception people are all amazing, friendly & so helpful (Geeshani & others); Amazing food at Magnolia restaurant with the manager (Kamal); The coffee shop with all the staff (Gayan, Mahesh, & others); we had a very nice adventure while going to Adams peak with the best Guide (Susantha).
Grand goes well with the Grand hotel as you will get the grand experience & the best stay ever.
Big thanks to the GM (Mr. Palaka) who is managing it in the right way.

Thank you all

Room Tip: All rooms are great, but the best are the ones having the front view of the hotel.

Dear Guest, Our sincere thanks for your words of praise to our staff members and the services they provide. Yes, we are extremely proud of our staff and will ensure to grow and be better at what we do. We are also glad you enjoyed the trek to Adam's Peak with Susantha, who is an extremely knowledgeable Naturalist. You have also endorsed the fact that Nuwara Eliya and the Grand, certainly requires more than a night or two to really enjoy all that it has to offer.
Thank you once again and best wishes from all at the Grand. Sincerely, Resident Manager.

We stayed here for 2 nights. The hotel gardens are beautiful. It is a central location and you can easily walk into town for a stroll. The rooms were a good size and the bathrooms were standard too. The staff were all very friendly and provided a good service. Thoroughly enjoyed the food here, there was lots of choice. We got a packed breakfast when we left early for Horton Plains which was okay too. I enjoyed my stay here but would only stay one night as there is not much else to do after you have visited Horton Plains which is amazing!

Dear Guest, Thank your so much for reviewing us. It is always pleasant to hear how much our guest enjoy our hotel and it's services. We are also glad you were able to visit Horton Plains when the legendary Strobilanthus are in bloom after 12 years. However, there is a lot more to explore and enjoy in Nuwara Eliya. There are upto 12 beautiful waterfalls around and most of them can be seen in one day. Then there is Thotupola Kanda and Kirigalpoththa which are two other enjoyable treks, not to mention the many bird watching and fishing options. Please do plan for these excursions when you visit us next, and make it a stay even more enjoyable than this one.
Thank you once again and best wishes from all at the Grand. Sincerely, Resident Manager.

Beautifully situated, with absolutely lovely gardens.
We stayed one night. The room was very comfortable. Thoughtfully a heater was provided which helped us stay warm. The room had a lovely view to the gardens, so the lack of a lift was not a problem.
We ate at Restaurant Two (it is just at the end of the drive and not part of this hotel). We did not want Indian food, as we are from India.
I spent some time looking at the old black and white pictures hung all over the hotel. That for me was the highlight of the stay.
Overall the service was good - I think with some extra effort they can delight the customer.
Breakfast was nice with reasonable choice.
I would recommend a stay to experience a heritage building that has a lot of history associated with it.

Room Tip: Room on second floor gives a good view of the gardens. Get a room facing the front. Ask the staff...
