Very good colonial type building, Good Restaurant, Very good spacious rooms. Golf course nearby to loaf around. Very good food, Nice staff.

View from the hotel was not good. You need to check if they have any rooms with a good view prior to check in. For billiards, they charge SL Rs 600, which is on a higher side.

Room Tip: No swimming pool. Check for rooms with a good view. But, even if you don't get a room with a goo...

We booked at the St. Andrew's as a last minute option since we had to cancel our other hotel booking. We were initially handed a room on the side that was still under renovation. There was literally construction going on right next to our room. We immediately asked for a change and were promptly moved to the already renovated side. The room was clean and airy. Looked pretty nice at first impression. But the renovation job was only skin deep because if you looked carefully then you'd spot the shoddy repair jobs they'd done on the aging furniture, the burned out power outlets, the faulty light switches etc. Fortunately the room was fine where it mattered i.e. it was comfortable. Complimentary breakfast was top notch and staff was pretty friendly. Location wasn't the best and there isn't much in the way of a view from the rooms. But the fact that the windows opened wide was a plus especially when the weather is nice. Overall the hotel management need to look into doing a proper overhaul.

Room Tip: Check out a couple of rooms before deciding on one. Some are better than others.

We stayed here for 2 nights whilst on a wildlife tour. It is near to Horton Plains and it's in the Tea Country of Sri Lanka. The gardens are kept beautifully and the hotel has a lot of charm. The room we had was facing the gardens, quite spacious and comfortable. If I had one criticism it is the furniture looked a bit basic. The staff were lovely and friendly and we had good service. The food was very nice and well presented. We ate in the newer dining area which we liked as it was light and airy.
We sat by lovely log fires whilst having a drink and a little chat with the staff in the bar.
For a 3* hotel we think it is very good and would stay there again if in that area. The town is within walking distance and is worth a look around the area of "Little England"

Room Tip: Rooms facing gardens are nice

After much cajoling from my better half, we booked into St.Andrews after a trek through Horton plains. My hesitation was based on the fact that I had not yet experienced Jet wing hotels and so was rather more inclined to something more familiar. However, from the moment we turned into st Andrews drive, I was captivated. It had the distinct old world charm I'm so fond of. An old and historical home, lovingly converted to a cosy hotel. Yes there were a few creaky floorboards, but to me that only increases it's charm. it's history is proudly displayed in old pictures and informative signs that tell you how the place came to be what it is today. We had a beautifully cosy room, and I must say, having stayed in some of the top hotels, their service is next to none. Even if they were unable to meet a request (which they didn't) They more than made up for it with their accommodating & friendly staff.

Due to the low occupancy at the time, it was set menus instead of buffets but the food was fantastic, & I know this may sound a tad odd, but if you go there, try their soups, they are out of this WORLD!. Being avid foodies ourselves, and Chefs by trade, we were really happy with the food that was served. One small tip would be that the scrambled eggs were a tad dry, would be better to add more milk and not overcook it. Presentation was beautiful always, and simple touches like fresh herbs took it to another level.

All the staff was friendly and hospitable, Harshan, one of the waiters who took care of us, couldn't do enough to make our stay comfortable, as did many others, like weerakody and Edward, who was kind enough to give us directions around N'eliya. Everyone took a few minutes out of their day to talk to us and make us feel welcome. The GM,Mr.Leukebandara himself spoke to us on several occasions and really went out of his way to make our stay enjoyable. I feel it is these little things that really make a difference when on holiday.

We spent most of our time seated in the beautiful gardens, which were a treat, or snuggled up inside by a fire til mealtime was called. My hubby, having visited before was not new to the place, by I, who had come for the first time was enchanted. To put it very plainly, I simply loved it and am thoroughly interested in visiting more Jetwing hotels, if their service is like this.

N'Eliya is a place to relax and enjoy the weather and beautiful gardens and scenery, staying at St Andrews, made this experience that much more enjoyable. I would definitely recommend this hotel for it's wonderful staff, fantastic food and old world charm.

You can feel that you are in "tea country" when staying at this hotel. There is a lot of history all around hotel, as well as places where to enjoy tea.
Pleasant surprise was upgrade to deluxe room which we received, got really big room with 2 seperate "floors". Downside was its placement to nearby school, so it was quite noisy at times.
Food and dinner especially was good and served in style. Several choices for main course and good presentation.
Location of hotel allows walking to city center quite easily, definetely would recommend hotel if staying in area

We loved staying here. Lovely old colonial hotel which was full of character - much nicer experience than staying in a modern hotel! Comfortable room which was clean. Lovely snooker room with full sized table & a great bar where they had the best wine list we had seen in Sri Lanka. They lit the fire for us as well! There is a small room off the bar covered in graffiti which I didn't really get. Food was good - there is a new restaurant extension and the food was well presented and tasty. Friendly staff too. Recommended!
