Colonial surroundings. Poor maintenance, lots of things look like they are falling apart. Room smells stuffy. Bathroom is simple but good hot shower. The rooms are terribly noisy. Not good if you want a good night sleep. Staff is very friendly.

We spent one night in this wonderful hotel during our round trip through Sri Lanka. We got a free upgrade to a superior room, because we were honeymooners. Everything in the room was great: comfortable beds, clean bathroom, lots of space.
What really stuck with us was the homelike atmosphere of the hotel's interior - antique furniture, a unique fireplace, shelves with many different books etc. But also the wonderfully arranged garden around the hotel contributes to this nice overall atmosphere.
The quality of the meals was also very good - a great variety of delicious food.
During our round trip we were in three different Jetwing hotels and all of them set themselves apart from other hotels in terms of service, quality of the meals, friendliness of the personnel, cleanliness etc.

My husband and I stayed here for one night on our way to visit Horton's Plains. It was a lovely old building, reminded me of the look and smell of my dorm in St. Andrews. The service was good, the grounds well kept, the room clean. Yes it could use a little love but overall I found it quite charming. Only missing a pool. The food was ok for dinner, we just had a packed breakfast for our hike. The city is really right in front and it is about an hour drive to Horton's Plains.

Room Tip: Request a view of the garden, top floor.

Nice hotel. Good food and location, and friendly staff

I highly recommend taking a guided tour with Ishan, the employed tour guide at the hotel. We went on a day trip to worlds end, an enjoyable trip for everyone at any age. The scenery was great, and Ishan made it more interesting with his knowledge on plants, animals, and birds in particular.

Very good colonial type building, Good Restaurant, Very good spacious rooms. Golf course nearby to loaf around. Very good food, Nice staff.

View from the hotel was not good. You need to check if they have any rooms with a good view prior to check in. For billiards, they charge SL Rs 600, which is on a higher side.

Room Tip: No swimming pool. Check for rooms with a good view. But, even if you don't get a room with a goo...

We booked at the St. Andrew's as a last minute option since we had to cancel our other hotel booking. We were initially handed a room on the side that was still under renovation. There was literally construction going on right next to our room. We immediately asked for a change and were promptly moved to the already renovated side. The room was clean and airy. Looked pretty nice at first impression. But the renovation job was only skin deep because if you looked carefully then you'd spot the shoddy repair jobs they'd done on the aging furniture, the burned out power outlets, the faulty light switches etc. Fortunately the room was fine where it mattered i.e. it was comfortable. Complimentary breakfast was top notch and staff was pretty friendly. Location wasn't the best and there isn't much in the way of a view from the rooms. But the fact that the windows opened wide was a plus especially when the weather is nice. Overall the hotel management need to look into doing a proper overhaul.

Room Tip: Check out a couple of rooms before deciding on one. Some are better than others.

We stayed here for 2 nights whilst on a wildlife tour. It is near to Horton Plains and it's in the Tea Country of Sri Lanka. The gardens are kept beautifully and the hotel has a lot of charm. The room we had was facing the gardens, quite spacious and comfortable. If I had one criticism it is the furniture looked a bit basic. The staff were lovely and friendly and we had good service. The food was very nice and well presented. We ate in the newer dining area which we liked as it was light and airy.
We sat by lovely log fires whilst having a drink and a little chat with the staff in the bar.
For a 3* hotel we think it is very good and would stay there again if in that area. The town is within walking distance and is worth a look around the area of "Little England"

Room Tip: Rooms facing gardens are nice
