“Nuwara Eliya!”
Reviewed 26 June 2014

Good Hotel.I was at St.Andrews with my wife and we have been to several Jetwing hotels before.
Food was really good and staff at the Restaurant was very friendly and simply the best. But some staff-specially room service/and some front office- was not up to Jetwing standrad I would say as I have been in other Jetwing hotels.!!Their smile seems to have vanished.Room heater was not enough..We were in a deluxe room.Location was really nice with very near to Nuwara Eliya town and places to visit.Overall this hotel is good and recommend to others who visit Nuwara Eliya.Hope hotel management will correct those little downsides to improve the service and bring in to the level of Jetwing Family!!

Room Tip: Try to select a upstairs room with good view

Booked in a suite with full board. Our room (207) was facing the front on the far right corner. The hotel had a feeling of being in a country club at the turning of the 20th century. Our room was huge, with a separate sitting room and a big bathroom.

The hotel was full most of the time when we were there but the other guests (mainly from tour groups) sat in a separate area but we shared the same buffet food, so need to start early before the food ran out. Later, we opt for the a la carte which was much better and less stressful.

Service very good at the hotel. The hotel was walking distance (around 10-15min) to the town centre. Nothing much immediately outside the hotel.

The hotel site was very small, there were no gardens that you can wander or there was no heated swimming pool, there were a few rooms that people can sit and chat before/after meals but they were always full of packaged tourists and we didn't have a chance to enjoy the log fire after the dinner.

Room Tip: We had a glimpse of other smaller rooms, there were really small, go for the suite if you can.

Dear Guest,

Thank you very much for taking the time to write and convey your thoughts and observations having stayed with us here at Jetwing St. Andrew’s.

We are thrilled to hear that our associates without exception exemplify the true meaning of providing outstanding service. We do work very hard to ensure the highest level of service possible is provided to all our guests and we are delighted that you appreciated our efforts.

The buffet is continuously replenished, throughout operating hours and therefore guests needn’t worry about getting to the buffet early. However, your valued comments have been noted, for any improvement.

We will be carrying out some exciting upgrades and refurbishment to the Hotel this year in order to strengthen our current offering and positioning as a brand with outstanding services and quality products.

We very much hope to welcome you back to our charming colonial Hotel in the not too distant future, where you can experience the difference.

Sincerely,

Upul Leukebandara.

First time being in a Jetwing hotel. People can learn to smile more and be bit less serious i believe. Good food although it was a little selection and was lucky enough to get buffets all the time in our visit. There cannot be a hotel more closer to N'Eliya than the Andrews i suppose. Great location, views and comfort. We wished we could become members :) only to visit back more and more.

Room Tip: Anything must be good.

The hotel is historical which gave our experience a unique feel. Rooms are clean although we wished we had internet connections. However, you can lounge in the lobby for that. We think that the management missed the thought that internet is a vital service needed by modern travelers today. Overall, we enjoyed our accommodation especially the lovely terrace over the victorian courtyard.

Whilst travelling on business, we had a weekend to explore Sri Lanka. We stayed for the night in Nuwara Eliya. Lovely friendly welcome. Room was a bit disappointing and felt a bit tired. Bathroom was great, with a lovely modern walk in shower. Food was way too western for my liking, but I stuck with the local cuisine on offer, which was absolutely delicious. Really attentive and friendly staff.

The food in the restaurant is good but the food is a bit too much (I was expecting Sri Lanka food and I got a very nice plate with Continental ingredients).
