Jetwing St. Andrew’s
Ranked #6 of 31 Hotels in Nuwara Eliya
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 2 September 2014

The Hotel is situated in Nuwara Eliya making a perfect base for exploring the tea country and Horton Plains national park. It is also very easy to wander into town and have a look at some of the shops, colonial style buildings and the botanical garden.

The hotel is on the older side and some of the rooms could do with a bit of an update however the architecture is of a lovely colonial style. The rooms were spacious and the bathrooms were functional.

We were warned by our travel company (Audley) that service could sometimes be a bit haphazard however we were extremely impressed by all the staff. They were attentive and extremely friendly.

The food was very good with a range of traditional indian and sri lankan curries available at the buffet. I do have the slight criticism however that the food could have been a bit hotter (tended to be a bit lukewarm). The prices for the buffet and a la carte options were very reasonable. Every evening there was also a pianist who plays throughout the meal which is a lovely touch.

Overall I would definitely recommend jetwing st andrews for those that are looking for comfortable accommodation in this area.

We stayed at this hotel in July 2014. The place is amazing in terms of decor, history and the wonderfully planted flower garden. Wonderful tastefully decorated room retaining its charm. We had a balcony overlooking the garden. There was also the lantern festival on while we were there where different departments of the hotel competed for the honour of producing the most beautiful lantern. At night they look magical.
Of special note was the frog night walk which was led by the hotel nature guide. He was extremely knowledgeable and very enthusiastic. We saw many different species of frog and he kindly wrote down the name of all of them after we completed the walk. I can highly recommend the nature walks run by the hotel guide.

It was a pity that we could not stay longer. The hotel is an old colonial building but the
bedrooms we occupied were spacious, modern, clean and opened onto the beautiful
gardens. Walking distance from town centre.

Hotel situated in the middle of Nuwara Eliya, walking distance from lake Gregory and Victoria park.
We had lunch from St. Andrews. We enjoyed the meal big time and surely will go again and dine in. No idea about the rooms as we didn't stay. But very calm place with a good number of staff. Old looking hotel.

Firstly the only redeeming aspect of this place is the mini welcome soup on arrival which is delicious. We paid 180usd for this obnoxious, falling apart, package tourist bus accomodation. The courtyard is pretty and rooms of maybe 80 per night however at 180 this is ridiculous. To make a call to my airline they timed me, cabs are double the prince from reception and there are so many frustrating things about this place I don't even know where to begin. Avoid as the hotel. Restaurant is good but again pretty expensive! Horrid wifi.

We really enjoyed our stay at St. Andrews. We had a great duplex room and the kids thoroughly enjoyed their upstairs 'room'. The weather was typically overcast and raining so we had some lovely afternoons teaching the kids how to play billiards on the billiard table from the mid 1800's. The food was OK but a bit limited for the kids. The grounds are lovely and the kids really enjoyed running around exploring, especially as we live in Dubai and such gardens do not exist. The staff were good, but the waiters seemed a bit rushed at times. We would happily recommend this hotel for families or couples. Very atmospheric and we loved the sense of history.
