We stayed a night in Stamford on April 19th, and were put in the 4th floor garret style rooms even though we had reserved our rooms more than a month in advance. Because the hotel was fully booked, we were not able to change our rooms. The garret room in and of itself was not the problem. The bed was comfortable and the room was okay. Most of the electrical outlets in the room did not work. But most of the lights in the room also did not work--the bulbs had blown and were not replaced; a couple of light fixtures had no bulbs. One of the young men at the reception desk was friendly but the man who took us to the room was rude and brusque.

Suggested to us as newer and in town.. Location great , that's it .
I think owned by Europeans who wanted a hotel for the family to come to , unlicensed, rooms very basic, dinner service soooo slow (1 1/2 hours and still got it wrong !) , noise from staff downstairs started at 5 am moving ??? across floors . The duty manager tried very hard to make amends over breakfast but too late and all too hard
Sorry , but beware
ps the decor/ furniture colour is to be seen , colours and style PHEW !

Room Tip: look elsewhere

Personell was really nice and attentive, room was quite big and clean. However the room was really badly isolated (we were there during new year's and it was really loud inside) - room for improvement but better than some of the other properties we saw in Nuwara!

The room was ok. A Little smell of humidity. The sheet had some dirt on it.
The rooms on the Streetside was quit loud!
The Restaurant was ok, the dinner meal was average! Breakfast was the same. Nothing special.
The Telephonnumber on the Card was wrong. So friends couldnt reach us! The Staff was very friendly Even the Hotelmanager.

We were on a 4 day tour enjoying each night and each hotel until our last day we spent the night in Stamford. They did not have our reservation for the tour company, they put a mattress on the floor for on of us( two adults , 10 year or 16 year old) to sleep on with a dirty sheet, thank goodness I spotted the dirt and had them change it.The lighting in the hallway ceiling was broken ( glass) and the overall feel of the room was not welcoming. Very cramped for 4 grown size people. I asked them is anything available for the 4 of us that is a little spacious or with two double beds. I was told " we booked "your" room for someone else already." The bathroom was cramped with mosquitoes all over the place. We hadn't used our 4 bottle of mosquito spray until we stay in this "room".

The condiments like sugar and tea was just laid on the desk. Nothing was personable or hospitable in this room.

Prior to that we sat in the lobby for 1 hour for them to straighten everything out so we could stay. I was very displeased with my stay here. I would not recommend staying here and would have any touring company change accommodations before putting your head down to rest here.

The lobby, tea and jaggery was nice and standard the least they could do to welcome us while we waited and was afraid we didn't have a place to stay. I would have just assumed to have not stayed. I just didn't appreciate the way they handled our situation, they didn't even have a proper extra bed so we didn't sleep on the floor. They just plopped a big mattress on the floor and proceeded to dress it.

I don't even think they were full. Atleast I didn't see that many people around. Any decent hotel should have accommodated it's client better than this especially when the client isn't at fault.

Room Tip: Don't stay. Request another hotel with your tour company.

my husband and i landed here after finding VERY few midrange hotel options in nuwara eliya. room was average, if overpriced. we had two lightbulbs in our room that didn't work . we were told they couldn't be repaired due to faulty wiring in the room. there was only 3 minutes of hot water in the shower each night, and the workers at the front desk were ridiculously inept and unprofessional. the level of service was embarrassingly low to nonexistent. For the price of the room can only definately say UNrecommendable.

Room Tip: make sure you check that there are lightbulbs in the lamps, and if so, that they're actually fun...

An average, standard, noisy, and basic hotel. Its being refurbished and remodelled. The restaurant is in desperate need of a good chef! Food here was shockingly poor. Breakfast was good, and generous, however.
We stayed 2 days. The Staff did not clean the room on the first morning, though they were busy on the same floor the entire time!

Room Tip: Choose a higher floor for more peace and quiet. Also one not facing the main road, which is noisy a...
