“More than just a bed for the night!”
Reviewed 27 October 2016 for a stay in October 2016

Senani Colonial Bungalow is more than just a bed for the night! We were warmly welcomed by the staff and shown to our bedroom which included a large four-poster bed. The spacious attached bathroom had modern fittings. The evenings in Nuwara Elyia can be quite cool and on this particular evening the staff made up a log fire in the sitting room which really made the evening feel quite special. Our delicious dinner was served in the dining hall where the walls were featured with interesting Sri Lankan photographs of times gone by. After a peaceful night’s sleep we chose to take breakfast in the farm style breakfast room where we had the pleasure of watching the lady cook making hoppers, a typical Sri Lankan speciality, both plain and with eggs. Breakfast also included the usual fare including toast and home-made marmalade and jams. One of the highlights of staying at Senani bungalow is the lovely garden, particularly the vegetable and herb gardens which are quite amazing. The owners have a great passion for gardening which clearly shows when you take a walk around the (just under 1 acre) garden which is laid out on many terraces. Senani Colonial Bungalow has a lovely homely feel and we would definitely recommend it.

“Excellent stay and amazing food!”
Reviewed 6 October 2016 for a stay in June 2016

Stayed here with five other people and we had the place to ourselves. Lovely, cosy bungalow with lots of history. Our hosts were extremely friendly, helpful and accommodating and the home-cooked food was excellent (so I would definitely recommend the catered option). It can get quite chilly in Nuwara Eliya but our hosts made sure we were toasty warm with brand new slippers and roaring fires in the fireplaces. Would definitely recommend!

“Excellent planter's bungalow in a quite neighborhood in Nuwara Eliya”
Reviewed 23 July 2016 for a stay in July 2016

Senani bungalow has a character of its own. Immaculately kept, we loved everything about this bungalow. The rooms were really spacious and 8 of us (adults) could easily sleep in the four bedrooms. The bathrooms were very clean and had hot water in all of them. The study and living rooms were really well maintained too.

We reached very early in the morning (around 4:30 am) but the caretaker was very nice and helped us to our rooms. We didn't speak Sinhalese so our driver communicated with them. The caretaker and the lady (cook) were the sweetest people in the world, showed us the kitchen garden and the rabbits and chickens the next morning.

The neighborhood was very quiet so we had excellent sleep so had an excellent day ahead.
I wouldn't hesitate recommending anyone to stay at Senani during a visit to Nuwara Eliya.

We stayed there for 2 nights, we were 8 people and booked all four rooms.
Bungalow was clean and very well maintained, garden area was beautiful. You will get great views from Bungalow.
Staff was nice, food was good.
We had little bit of problem in communicating with staff as none of us knew Sinhalese, otherwise our experience was great.

If you want fresh air, nice and quiet place, good people and excellent food than this is a place for you. I was there with ma familiy at end of May. It was amazing. The air was fresh, chill. Rooms are very clean and pleasant. We had to very quiet nights. Kids slept from 19h- 07am. The staff is just nothing like anywhere in Sri lanka. They made herbarium with our kids and show them all organic things that are planted in the garden. Morning tea in the garden was was something that left the best impression on me. Definitely worth going. Try not to miss it.

Senani Bangalow is a beautiful colonial style bangalow with modern amenities on the hill of Nuwar Elia. Verry clean and stylish. We enjoyed the open view, herbal garden with rabits and chickens, but most of all friendly service and food. Fresh salads from the garden, barbecue, rice and carry... Delisious food were made with love and joy. Lavander tea and coffee on the rose terrace were so pleasant. Although bangalow close to the center it is very quiet and relaxing. Fireplaces and antique furniture creating such an ambient atmosphere. Their kings beds are so comfortable and cozy, made my sleep just wonderful. Thank you for unforgettable lovely weekend.
