The Arlington offers clean, comfortable beds at a great price. I love boutique hotels and can really appreciate old charm, but a few updates are probably in order for this place. I also wasn't thrilled with the level of service, but I could no more rate it just 'average' than I could call my Nana 'alright.' The great location, on premise spa, and seriously effective heaters (I think some reviewers complained about the heat, but this is one of the few hotels that still let you crack a window) made our stay extraordinary.
The only negatives (and it could have been b/c we arrived late on a Monday night):
1) poor bellman service (read: MIA) and no luggage cart. We had four in our party and a lot of luggage. She couldn't find the bellman and we asked if we could just get a cart and bring up our own luggage, they wouldn't let us.
2) Early closing bar. The front-desk person told me they were open until 10 and they were a few people sitting in chairs with drinks, but when I tried to get a cocktail to bring up to the room the bartender said they were closed, I was ok w/ it b/c it was late and we were headed up, but had we been there without the kids, I would have been pretty angry.More
