We loved this drive. Having driven for many many days through flat flat scenery we were delighted to be able to do this route on our way from Poteau to Little Rock. There are also many pull over places to look at the views and they are well organised so you feel safe driving both in and out of them. Thoroughly recommend this drive.

My wife and I drove into the forest in several areas. The twisty scenic roads were perfect for what we were looking for (a place to drive the classic 'vette for fun) and to take lots of pictures. We loved the picturesque views of the fall and the smells of the forest were just priceless. I wish we had more time! I recommend this for anyone seeking a break from swindling ticket- takers and to just be on your own and picnic. We had a blast here.

Most of the Ouachita National Forest is beautiful particularly along the Talimena national scenic Byway. We drove the byway during the peak of the fall foliage change. That is certainly worth a trip. My husband and I spent a few hours at the Red Slough Wildlife Management Area, in the Ouachita National Forest. We did not see an alligators or snakes and very little birds. The ranger said there was little wildlife this year because of the draught.

Not very big for a forest and the drive was a bit boring. Felt more like a lake side drive, no wildlife to see.

We drove all around and got out to take pictures, my only regret is not having tennis shoes so we could walk/run through the beautiful scenes. The view from the top is just beautiful, you can see the entire town of Hot Springs.
