“Clean, neat, best deal in town”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 July 2012

The Knights Inn, Cortez, Colorado, is the best deal I found in town this time through. The room is clean and large, and the staff friendly. It has everything a budget motel room should have, and at least room 129 is abundantly large enough for a family of five.

My first pleasant surprise upon opening the door was the way the beds were made. The owners have put some thought into the way the room looks, instead of flinging the usual gaudy motel comforters on the beds. Each bed has 3 large pillows neatly lying against the headboard. A tan blanket, turned back, and a red-ochre runner at the foot of the bed resemble the colorful rock strata of Mesa Verde, towering over Cortez to the south. I don't know if they do this in every room, but as a geologist and artist, it struck my fancy.

The staff are European, and can speak German. The wi-fi network is extremely zippy--I've downloaded some very large files for my one-day-old computer in no time.

The Knights Inn in Cortez, Colorado, is a fine budget motel, run by knowledgeable hosts. It gets the best possible recommendation from me, and I would recommend this motel to my friends and family. If you want a fancy motel room for well over a hundred dollars a night, you can get that somewhere else in Cortez. But if you don't light your cigars with hundred-dollar bills, so to speak, come to the clean, spacious, and affordable Knights Inn.

Staff - informational and accomodating
Room - quiet and comfortable
Location - easy to get to
Price - inexpensive and well worth the money!
If we ever find ourselves in Cortez again we will plan to stay at Knights Inn!
We also visited the Sonic next door for a latenight slushy :)

Booked through internet, this turned out to be a good budget place. It’s not fancy at all but it provides a really good sleep before continuing the journey the next day.

The first positive point is the friendly and helpful man of Polish origin who attended us at the front desk. He was always very kind and we were happy to meet him.
With reference to our room, this was spacious, pleasant and very clean, and our beds were comfortable. The bathroom was also very clean but it was quite small and it didn’t look as modern as other bathrooms we had had in previous places.

On the other hand, the room didn’t have either refrigerator, nor micro-wave, as well as there isn’t either a guest computer in the motel’s office, while the pool they have was closed. We have to say as well that the breakfast is very basic and that there isn’t any breakfast area but a small table and a couple of chairs in the motel’s office as well as a couple of chairs outside the motel’s office. So you’d better bring some food or have breakfast somewhere else. By the way we had dinner at Benys, a Mexican restaurant within walking distance from the hotel located also on Broadway, and lunch at a chinese restaurant called Hong Kong which is just a 2 minutes drive from the motel on Cortez’s Main Street. Both places were good and cheap.

Finally, in regards to the sleeping quality, this was really good because we didn’t hear any noise from Broadway (pretty busy road), nor from other rooms. So now that we know how this motel is (I’m attaching some pictures) and what it offers, we are confirming that we would stay here again, as we find it to be a great value.

Room Tip: Choose a room on the second floor of the wing we stayed (see the picture)

Great room, clean, comfortable beds, and next door to Sonic! Parking in front of room! Breakfast was disappointing.

I purchased online and was completely disappointed when I arrived. We had driven 300 miles in major heat and were looking forward to cooling off in the pool. It was closed permenantly! The a/c took three hours to get the room cool. The ice machine was broken. Very frustrating. With kids that were hot and tired, it made for a rough end to our day of traveling!! Will not ever stay there again. The manager said they just acquired it. Too bad he bought a rotten apple!

I checked rates and rooms in town /I always do !/-THAT WAS THE BEST DEAL IN TOWN,
Remodeled, very clean rooms, friendly service; and continental breakfast !.
We always stay in motels with electronic door locks - they are safer!
I do recomend this place .

We stayed here on a family spring break trip to Mesa Verde National Park. We arrived later in the evening and the motel staff was super friendly. The room rate was very reasonable for what was provided. The rooms were very clean, quiet and had wi-fi. My wife, small child and I enjoyed our stay and decided to stay two nights.

From the reviews posted before, it's clear there have been some positive changes to this motel. The exterior has been re-painted and we came across none of the issues described in the prior reviews. I highly recommend this motel if you're looking for a clean, quiet and affordable place to stay.
