Nice. Great place for the money and Teresa will do anything she can to make your stay comfortable and relaxing. Located on the main drag through town, close to restaurants. Quiet in spite of location. Great base camp for sightseeing at Mesa Verda and area touring.

Will stay again when in the area.

I just got back from a cross-country road-trip 2 weeks ago. We left Los Angeles, headed east towards Illinois. After staying in Las Vegas, checking out Zion National Park and Lake Powell, our next stop was Cortez to see Mesa Verde.

Cortez seems to be a town of 2 things: farming and tourism. There are many hotels downtown and this was the only one I saw out of that area. This is an older hotel and looks like it needs some redecorating, but besides that, I have no complaints.

The owner is a wonderful lady who really made us feel at home and comfortable. She speaks to you kindly and takes reservations herself. She seemed more fair than other hotel owners and more personable. She also has 2 beautiful Great Danes that you can see peeking out when new visitors arrive. :)

Anyway, we meant to only stay here one night but ended up staying 2 when we realized that visiting Mesa Verde is more than just a hike, it is an all day event.

Our room was one of the ones close-ish to the road and when we first got there, I was concerned that we would hear road noise all night but actually it turned out to be very quiet and I slept well.

This place does have a neat retro hotel sign... so if you're into that... you'll find it here! If anyone wanted to revamp this place, they could really play off the retro feel and turn it into a retro-themed hotel.

Cortez is town that seems to be there only for Mesa Verde. Hotels there are for short periods of time.

The lovely lady who runs the Tomahawk could not have been nicer. We didn't have a reservation, and she was so accommodating. BUT...this is a very tired old motel, with none of the ammenities you expect. The sheets were so thin for fun I was able to read my Kindle through them.
No hair dryer, shampoo and conditioner. Nice lady, but not enough.

My husband and I stayed here for two nights while on vacation. The motel is not in a great part of town but not too far from local restaurants. We wanted to love it because the owner is very friendly, but it just fell short. The room was clean but the walls are paper thin and noises from the road and other rooms made it difficult to relax and get a good sleep. We might consider staying again simply because the price is so good but with a bigger budget we would look for something else. I will keep an eye on this motel because I think the owner will continue to improve it when possible.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the road for less noise.

Room (4) - The motel offers the standard facilities you can expect, no more. It's a little bit older than the average. Very good rate. / Services (5) - The personnel has been very friendly and gentle. Coffee and sweets available for free at breakfast time. / Location (3,5) - The motel is not close to the few restaurants you can find in Moab. [1-6 scale]

Room Tip: the owner is very gentle and friendly...have dinner at the cortez brewery...

Nice little quiet motel in Cortez, the room was clean and quiet, they had a small refrigerator in the room which made it nice for having snacks and drinks in the room! Management was very nice and helpful!

had a great weekend get away here last year in 2012. It is a really nice place run by a cleanliness and service oriented European lady named Theresa. The rooms are incredibly well maintained. Each room also has its own refrigerator. There are coffee and snack bars in the morning.

Room Tip: Ask for the ground floor rooms in the front for good motorcycle parking
