“Clean & inexpensive!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 January 2013

My husband & I stayed here for two nights as we explored Mesa Verde NP & Hovenweep NM. Great location to both sites. Not necessarily in the main downtown area of Cortez, but no more than 3 miles to all the restaurants & shops. Very reasonably priced, though no breakfast is included. Wifi signal is a little weak in the last rooms, but we switched to a room closer to the main office & it was superb. Staff was friendly & informative. We will definitely be staying here again!

We made reservations here and it was our base for a side trip to Mesa Verde - just down the road and on the other side of town. Well it couldn't have been better. The folks at the front desk were cordial and helpful in a Mom and Pop way, the room was spotless and quiet, and I could bird watch out back in late afternoon. The place is not architecturally spectacular - it's old-time basic motel, but is a great choice at a great price. You can't go wrong.

stayed november 10th, 2012. This place is one of the cleanest hotel room i have ever stayed in. It only cost $41 for a night and I feel it is well worth the price. The lady at the desk was extremely friendly and helpful. Don't waste your money by staying at a commercialized hotel when this place when this place is here. If i ever need to stay in Cortez again, I will stay at White Eagle.

There's nothing more i could ask for from this motel...it's by far the best motel i have ever stayed in, especially being so close to several great historical attractions. The front desk is exceptionally friendly and she even help planned my trip for me, since this is my first time to the Four coners and I was there by myself. Absolutely good value for money.. Will be back soon...

The White Eagle Inn, although nothing fancy, simply does the job. We stayed in room 1 for one night. The room was clean and had wood-paneled walls, a comfortable king-size bed, small refrigerator, TV and remote, coffee-maker, two side tables, an alarm clock, a desk and chair; a table and two more chairs, and a heater/air conditioner. The bathroom was nice too and was even better once we figured out that you could turn off the fan that is combined with the light, by using a switch on the light itself, just above the mirror. The shower head was placed a bit low for tall travelers. They offered a “complimentary rag” in a little marked box in the bathroom, along with the usual soaps and such. Your parking place is right outside your door and is marked. It was very easy to check on the car. They use real entrance keys, not key cards, and would prefer that you lock the room from the inside as you leave instead of using the key on the outside.

Though they offered free wi-fi, we were unable to successfully connect to their network. Since we weren’t anxious to connect, we did not ask for their assistance in this matter, though I expect they would gladly have tried to help. The gentleman who checked us in was quite helpful when asked what restaurants he would recommend for dinner and breakfast. There was also a notebook in the room which had a number of restaurants listed and some of their menus. It included a map somewhat in the middle of the listings which showed where each location was in town. You will want to drive to wherever you choose to eat, as they are all somewhat farther than comfortable walking distance.

This little AAA approved place, slightly out of the main part of town, was great to stay in, especially for the cost!

Good rating on Tripadvisor and price had us stay here in early October. This is an older motel, family owned, not a chain. The rooms were big, two queen sized beds, coffee pot and small fridge. If you plan on staying in the area for a few days, sometimes it's nice to have a fridge to put your milk and fruit in instead of eating your breakfast in a restaurant all of the time. The decore was dated but the rooms were very very clean. Another thing to note was that there are more parking spots than rooms so it was very easy to park where you needed to and haul your stuff inside your room. The motel is on the edge of town so you will likely have to drive to get a hot meal. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. Upon arrival we asked about where a good place to eat was and were told that seeing it was a Saturday the Ute Moutain Casino has a Prime Rib buffet for 8 dollars so seeing that this motel was on the edge of town on the road that goes to the casino ,so that evening ,I'd say it was perfectly located. We were not familiar with the are and asked the owner about some local tips on what to look for in the Canyons of the ancients and Hovenweep. She was very helpful in that regard. We didn't get to see everything that we wanted to see while we were there so we're going back and hopefully for us, too many good reviews won't make it hard for us to get a room there.

Our stay at this family owned motel was prompted by the excellent reviews on Trip Adviser. A traditional motel which is well cared for and maintained. It lived up to expectation, comfortable extremely clean with a bathroom that actually sparkles. The motel is on the edge of town and there is no way you can walk to eat (not even fast food) so after a long day of driving we had to get back in the car and drive for something to eat. If it's late eat before you arrive. Would definitely stay again.
