I live about five minutes away and we regularly visit Olbrich. In the summer it's a wonderful stroll outside, but in the winter the jungle-like interior is a nice break from the cold and snow.

As a gardener, I always make a point of visiting botanical gardens anywhere I travel, and Olbrich is a rare treat. We went in early spring, around the time when many bulbs and early shrubs are flowering and it was especially lovely. For your small donation, the conservatory is a nice place to sit and enjoy a quiet 1/2 hour amongst the orchids and canaries, the only downside being that you can't take your coffee in with you. You can take a free tour around the gardens and see/photograph all the rare and interesting plants. They have a Thai pavilion, the only one in the world outside of Thailand, which is a beauty, and the rock garden and rose garden are worth checking out as well. A must see if you're in Madison.

Always a beautiful, peaceful place to stroll. Free! Parking can be a challenge when the weather is beautiful, or there is an event going on.

Olbrich Gardens is a wonderful place to stroll through and forget your worries or get inspired to try something new in your own garden. To get the full appreciation you should plan to spend a couple hours.

It is easy to spend a full afternoon at Orbrich. The wide variety of plants and different gardens sets it apart. Best of all its free.
