“First rate steaks, fish fry, locally popular.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 October 2013

The steaks are excellent, and wednesday and friday fish fry (I especially like the crispy lake perch). The hamburgers are good too (my wife tells me), although I never get that far. If you come during the fish fry the line and the crowd gets pretty daunting. The small place is wall-to-wall people with spillover to the outside. The noise level gets up there, so it's not a place to whisper sweet nothings to your date. This is a local tavern, with tons of neighborhood people- in our household we just call the place "The Bar". Local Lake Louie beer on tap, and good brandy old fashioneds-- how Wisconsin can you get? Salad is good, Cole slaw is as it should be, hash browns (especially with onions and cheese) top the chart. Repeating myself, steaks are great. What a good local tavern should be.

“One of the best burgers in Madison”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 July 2013

Shh. Don't tell. This place is great. The burgers are fantastic - make from steak trimmings from the butcher across the street. The Friday fish fry is also great - and packed full of people. Go late (after 8) if you don't want to wait. Also - the steaks are yummy. But don't tell too many people - it is already hard to get a seat. The service is always friendly - and the atmosphere is perfectly Wisconsin.

“Very good food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 May 2013

This is a good choice for good food at a fair price. The burger was fantastic and it is well staffed so the wait is not long and they all take care of you. A little cramped but worth it. The chicken soup looked good but lacked taste. A better fry then basic crinkled cut would be a great compliment to a good burger. The prime rib and walleye is waiting for our next trip. Tap beer (Spotted Cow) was pricey so one beer was the limit.

“Small bar that's loaded with great food and a fun atmosphere!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 March 2013 via mobile

This is the place to go for a great burger and beer while you watch the Badger game with the family. Smaller menu with plenty of choices to satisfy anyone's appetite. Generous cocktails.
