“Nice place, average location”
Reviewed 29 August 2013

This was our first trip to Madison, so we booked the Sleep Inn based almost solely on TA reviews. It is indeed a newer property that's in very good shape. We were very pleased with our room (3rd floor, east end), and didn't hear a peep from any neighbors during our stay. They have nice fitness and pool facilities. And the breakfast area is about what you'd expect.

For us, the only downside was we were a pretty good distance from State Street and the other major Madison attractions. Not knowing the area previously, I think we were somewhat caught off guard by just how big the city is. You're probably looking at about a 20 minute drive to the university, State Street, etc.

All in all, though, we were happy to have stayed here.

Room Tip: Had good luck with the 3rd floor

We were headed to Minneapolis to camp while visiting with our son. Since it was Saturday night, we knew we would have a hard time finding a campground for one night (and, truthfully, I WANTED a king size bed, lots of pillows, a nice chair with footrest, Internet access and pampering for the night!).

We had stayed at this hotel previously when we moved our son to Minneapolis and had enjoyed our stay. That is why we picked it again. Not disappointed! Everything was the same, good, quiet room, great bed and pillows, thick towels. What was different was the $10 charge for our dog, which we had not paid here before. We also had to ask to have the room safe charge removed from our bill, which was cheerfully done.

Breakfast had some changes - they added precooked cheese omelets and sausage. I reported before the breakfast was nothing to write home about; it still wasn't. A typical hotel chain breakfast, high in fats and carbs. They did have yogurt; unfortunately, it had artificial sweetener (I believe Aspartame) so we did not have any.

We had our camping trailer with us and were concerned where to put it overnight. No problem, there was plenty of room in back and our room overlooked it so we could keep an eye on it from time to time. With the wide open spaces surrounding this hotel, we were able to play with our dog and her Chuck-It ball tosser and get rid of her energy after being confined to the car all day.

I would most definitely stay here the next time we head to Minneapolis.

Room Tip: Rather hard to find so keep their phone number handy. We were on the second floor and it was very qu...

I was staying at this place for a training in Madison. It was clean, quiet and had a nice breakfast area in the morning. The only issue I have is that it's kinda far from things. It's about 15min to State St and there really is not much to do or eat right in the area. I would recommend heading to Monona Dr if your looking for food.

ALL staff very friendly and helpful. IMPRESSED with everyone on staff.
Especially the breakfast crew !!!

Elevator is large and it's always available.(never a long wait.)

Swimming pool is popular with lots of kids, so we never attempted the crowd or waves--can't comment on pool or their community hot-tub. We had an incredible hot-tub in our room, so no need to venture out.

Very Comfortable & firm bed (great for people with bad backs.) Sleeping was PERFECT. Beautiful, NICE & Newer building...Third floor was Quiet room on Front side of motel...even though parking lot was full.

Large Bathroom & nice Shower. HUGE Hot-tub with plenty of jets.(see photo). Large TV with Phillips connections available (see photo). Also, 1- stuffed chair & foot stool. Computer desk with high back chair. Adequate size-Refrigerator & Microwave.

Breakfast included; - "Blueberry" Waffles, Original Waffles, Egg Omelets, Hard-boiled Eggs, Sausage Links and/or Sausage Patties, Yogurt, Bagels, Donuts, Toast, Cereal, Oatmeal, Milk & Orange Juice/Apple Juice.

Pet Friendly--which is very much appreciated!
THANK You for allowing important members of the family****(Pets are really quieter than kids!)

Room Tip: Quiet on any 3rd floor room -- even on Front side of motel.

We stayed here for 3 nights with a new puppy. The staff was friendly, and they were very accomodating of our pet. The free breakfast was nice with good options. It is located near major highways, but not overly noisy, and sleeping was not disturbed. There is ample green areas for dog walking, and as all things in Madison, everything is just a short drive away. We liked the hotel very much.

I liked that the hotel was in newer condition and seemed very clean and well maintained. The front desk staff were also friendly and efficient. On the downside, I was disappointed by how remote the location is since, from what I could tell, it was quite a drive to get to even the nearest gas station, pharmacy, restaurant, or Target type of store. It's not walking distance or a short trip around the corner to anything. Also, the bathroom lighting - at least in my room - was very dark. Lighting directly over the vanity like most hotels is much better for getting ready in the morning but this bathroom only had one sconce off to the side. Overall I'd say it was "okay". Not bad but nothing that would make me come back either.

Thank you for your review. Our Front desk staff is always happy to help find a close place to eat or shop. Toby's Supper Club is about a 5-10 min. walk down the road and they have great food. We hope you will come back and see us again so we can make your trip a great one!

My wife, toddler son and I spent a night at the the Sleep Inn and Suites (checked in at 9 p.m., checked out at 8:30 a.m.), and it is a solid place to spend a night.

The hotel is clean, and the amenities are nice for this kind of hotel (and for this good a rate): refrigerator, microwave, flat-screen TV, free breakfast, free fast in-room WiFi. There is also a pool that looked nice, but I didn't use it. When I checked in, I saw a lot of 20somethings in the pool area, so they obviously thought it was worthwhile.

The room was fine, big enough that with a little bit of furniture moving we could easily fit my son's toddler air mattress. Solid furnishings in decent shape. Everything is clean. The walk-in shower is fine but a bit odd: Built into the space of a tub, you walk in on the right and turn left into the shower area, so there is no door or curtain. It has a bit of a health club feel, but it was fine.

The breakfast consisted of eggs, a waffle-maker, coffee/tea, two choices of sugar cereal, instant oatmeal, donuts and muffins, bagels and bread (with a toaster), one kind of low-fat yogurt, apples, bananas, and apple and orange juice (from a machine, so I have no idea if it was real juice or fruit drink; I had the apple juice, and I think it was real juice). As you can see, plenty of selection, but not especially healthy.

The lobby and elevator are in good shape. Functional and clean.

The location is in the southwest corner of Madison, and it's not right off the beltline exit (not that it's a big deal, but if you don't know the area, you could get lost).

If you need to spend a night or two in Madison, and being on the southwest side works for you, this is a good place to stay. Nothing spectacular, but clean and comfortable with some nice amenities. I would stay here again.
