“Good Option in Madison”

Good location right across from the capital building. Good views of the capital dome from our room. Overall, the hotel didn't knock our socks off but a good option if you are visiting Madison. In the summer there is a great farmers market by the capital building just a few blocks away.

Room Tip: Ask for a capital dome view.

I've stayed at the Madison Monona Terrace Hilton on several occasions for business travel. Sometimes I've been looking out over the Frank Lloyd Wright Monona Terrace on Lake Monona and other times I've had a great view of the Wisconsin Capitol building. Either way, can't be beat! Rooms were always very nice, clean, and welcoming. Parking was sometimes a little tight, as during my last stay, but overflow parking is in the Monona Terrace parking ramp which is pretty close. Normally I've never eaten at the hotel's restaurants, but this time I did try out their steakhouse for lunch. Excellent food, fast service, and as reasonably priced as a Hilton would be expected to be. My only gripe? This ridiculous charge for wi-fi in the rooms (it is free in the lobby, steakhouse, and restaurant, but who wants to carry your laptop or iPad down there to Skype with the family back home? Not me.) Given the fact that wi-fi is free at your cheapest Motel 6, and even other hotels within the Hilton brand, I just don't understand why they want to charge you $10 a night for wi-fi in the room. So, c'mon Hilton, ante up and make your guests feel happy! That would have gotten you five stars.

Room Tip: Try to get at or above the fifth floor if you want really decent views of either the Capitol buildin...

I have stayed in all of the downtown Madison hotels, and this one is the best in my opinion. Great location. Very friendly staff. We had a corner lake view room with two large windows over the Labor Day weekend. I thought this room was worth the price as the view of the lake was wonderful. The bar is also very nice... very dark with low ambient light... perfect for a couple of martinis and conversation. The air conditioner was somewhat loud, as others have mentioned, but this was a plus for me because I like white noise. Bathrooms could use an updating. Parking was $12-$15 dollars per night if I recall. Compared to $50 per night in some cities, this seemed like a bargain. Overall, I thought this hotel, while somewhat high-priced, was well worth the expense, and I can definitely recommend it for a great weekend getaway.

Room Tip: Lake view on an upper floor is very nice, and was worth the extra price.

Excellent and super convenient hotel for Ironman Wisconsin. Just think - no portapot lines because your very own toilet is in your room in the hotel that is connected to transition!! Get up early to pump tires at 5am and add to T1 + T2 bags - then go back to your room to put on wetsuit and enjoy your very own toilet until it is time to head out to the swim start around 620am. Any spectators with you will love the convenience of this hotel. And, hotel is directly across the street from the finish. However, be prepared to pay TOP DOLLAR or TOP POINTS. For us, it was worth it because it took away one less concern about race day logistics!

Stayed one night on a business trip. My bigest complaint was the loud AC in my room. The room showed signs of wear and tear, especially in the bathroom where the wallpaper was pealing around the bathtub, along with failing plaster (water damage). The room was a generous size, and the view of the capital building was impressive. The bed had short sheets - that don't cover the foot of the mattress (a pet peeve of mine). I had breakfast in the hotel restaurant and it was decent. Parking is extra and spots are tight. Not a bad stay, but nothing remarkable. If you are willing to drive a few miles there are other hotels in the area that have free parking, nice rooms and quiet airconditioners, all for less money.

I travel a lot for work and stay at Hilton's so on a family getaway weekend I choose this hotel. The staff was extremely helpful and they allowed dogs. The rooms were a little cramped probably due to the downtown location, which is excellent! Parking was also limited. The bar was small but had lot of seating. A nice place to stay in Madison

It was a good, but not great stay principally since the A/C unit only had auto and full on modes and both were quite loud, but necessary given the heat outside. Also, the room was nice, but the bath was a bit dated and worn. The staff was nice and suggested a good dinner spot, while the free breakfast was much better than other Hilton properties.
