“Comfortable, Great Service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 August 2012

We had a king bedroom without a balcony. Our view was not the best. Looking out over the parking lot and down at the neighboring homes. However, we weren't there for the view. It is located just across from Camp Randall Stadium. There is a shuttle service in a nice Chevy Suburban instead of the typical hotel mini van, that runs until 1 AM. The hotel bar is very nice. It is a bit noisy when it gets very busy.
There is free hotel parking.
The room has a modern, industrial feel, with cement floors and sliding doors on the bathroom. The bed was very comfortable. It is quite a bit softer than we normally like but I slept great.
The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful.

My husband and I stayed in the Capitol 1 bedroom suite. The room was very cool and modern, if you don't mind cement floors and ceilings. I love bathtubs in the room, and this one was nice, but a bit smaller than I expected. The robes were very comfy.

We brought our dog, and EVERYONE was very friendly to her! They even gave her a bag of treats upon check-in.

At night, the noise from the street was a bit loud, but not unbearable. We were here on a quiet August weekend; I imagine on a big Madison night it would be quite loud.

Lastly, we ordered room service for breakfast. The food was good, but we found it amusing that the fresh fruit that was described to come with our dishes was literally just 3 blueberries.

All in all, I would definetly stay here again! Just maybe not on a raucous Madison weekend.

It's very comfortable. The layout is odd, due to the lot shape, but that adds interest. In winter, the dark halls and gray concrete walls and floor may seem too much, but it was cool when we visited in summer. The lobby can be painfully full of sunshine, but the bar area should be fine. Room was pretty quiet, and the decor was black and white and red all over. Great location for midtown activities, not to mention Mickey's for breakfast next door for serious carbs (do not order more than one pancake; take it from me).

Room Tip: The intersection can make getting into the parking area a hassle, so try the side street and come th...

Stayed one night at HotelRed on a business trip. The location is great. Parking is available for free on a first come basis. The rooms are great. Nice bathroom and the beds are wonderful. Staff is wonderful, friendly and check in was fast. Great atmosphere for a great price. Highly recommend the hotel.

My husband and I really enjoyed our weekend getaway at Hotel Red. The décor and atmosphere is as marvelous as other reviewers and photos of the hotel suggest. We were wowed by the friendly, helpful staff. In particular, the shuttle driver was jovial and accommodating. We did have a minor issue with housekeeping: the previous guest had left the window open and the window sill was covered in small bugs. Parking appears to be sparse; we circled the block thinking that the small lot we pulled into couldn’t possibly be for guests, but we received a space. I only wish a hotel of this style was located downtown; a car is needed to get to the Capitol/State Street area from Hotel Red. The Camp Randall neighborhood is lucky to have Hotel Red in service. A must stay for Badger games and a fun getaway for couples.

My husband and I stayed for one night at HotelRED and just loved it. The check-in staff was very friendly and even had drinks for us. The room was gorgeous and very comfortable and quiet. The multi-jet shower was so relaxing that I didn't want to get out. The only reason that I'm not giving the hotel an excellent rating is because of the limited parking. I'm not sure that they have enough spaces on their property to accommodate all the rooms. There were no open spots when we checked in. We were told that a group had taken the spaces to go to a baseball game so no spaces were available, but that those spots would open up later that evening. I wasn't clear if these people were staying at the hotel or not. We were told that because it was Sunday that we could park across the street in the university's field house lot. Luckily we were heading out to eat and when we came back we found one open spot in the ground level ramp.

I stayed at HotelRED twice in July and had 2 great experiences. Very cool vibe to the hotel but if you don't like the loft style/concrete floors, then this wouldn't be for you. Rooms have a galley style kitchen complete with stove, dishwasher, microwave, dishes, etc. Rooms facing Camp Randall have fabulous balconies - can't imagine a better place for pre- or post-game activities and convenience. Staff was marvelous and they have a free SUV to shuttle you around town in.

Room Tip: Go for a suite with a view of Camp Randall
