Best Western East Towne Suites
Ranked #16 of 63 Hotels in Madison

Reviewed 14 October 2013

This Best Western is close to the Interstate, 15 minutes from Dane County Airport, 5 minutes from East Towne Mall, and has a variety of restaurants within walking distance. There is also a pool and a hot free breakfast included. There is an airport shuttle but it has to be reserved 24 hours in advance and is only a small minivan that can hold 6 passengers or 4 with luggage. We got extra help from Tom at the front desk in getting our large group back to the airport. The rooms were clean but some parts were getting dated. The shower head was a dial-adjustable type but turning it nothing happened. No big deal but you only had a spray type that didn't change. The breakfast was good with waffles, toast, cereal, scrambled eggs, potatoes, sausage, and drinks - coffee, OJ, Apple, and lemonade. It was just the same everyday but enough was there to change it a bit. The pool was open until 11 PM and had a hot tub at one end. There was a computer in the lobby if you needed a quick look at something. Free wireless was available and was easily found on a Sony Experia. Next door was a Dickey's BBQ, a Pot Belly sandwich, and a Texas Roadhouse. Across a street was a Red Robin, TGIFs, a KFC, Hardees, and a Panera Bread. A bit further down was an Outback Steakhouse, a Cracker Barrel, Fazoli's, Red Lobster, Culvers, Chili's, and an Olive Garden. Anything on the other side of 151 would be best to drive. The bed was firm and comfortable and the room was quiet. I didn't hear anything from outside. The only problem was that the room was warm, but it was too cold for the AC to work and the window didn't open. The fan by itself didn't really cool the room down. A vent of some kind was needed. Overall, a good experience and a decent stop. I would stay again.

This is a well maintained property with an excellent location off of the expressway and access to downtown Madison off of East Washington. It is surrounded by restaurants and a shopping mall. The rates for nights or more make it ideal for my purposes as I work in Madison but live 100 miles away. I stay weekly. I only wish they would change the breakfast from time to time, but that is a suggestion not a complaint as the breakfast is very good. I'd also like to see the water and air in the pool area warmed up a bit since Winter is approaching, but again not a complaint as there is a nice pool and hot tub. You do have to exit the hot tub every 5 minutes to restart the timer. Not sure why it shuts off so quickly.

Great hotel with a nice, hot breakfast (more than just your typical continental breakfast - scrambled eggs, sausage, potatoes is what was served this trip). Hotel is close to great restaurants and shopping. The rooms are nice and clean and has a little "living room" area. My coworkers and I always stay here.

Very nice hotel. It is in a good location. The set up of the room was nice. Clean. It was not as modern as some that I have recently stayed at, but it was nonetheless very nice. It took the state rate, hence a good value. I have no idea what a "citizen" would pay.

Excellent property and great value. More amenities than I would ever need on site. Good strong wi-fi throughout the building. Excellent free breakfast (can't really call eggs, sausage, potatoes and toast "continental"). Excellent twin bed room with a sofa and huge screen tv. Bed was comfortable, pillows were nice. The bathroom was a little small but not an issue for me. My only complaint would be that there is only 28 channels available on the cable for the tv.. The property is older but it is clean and well maintained. Located next to the East Town Mall with plenty of restaurants around it. The property is in a safe area of the city. I had people staying in the rooms to the left and right of mine and I never heard them once. There are a lot of business travelers and working people staying at this hotel which says a lot about its value. Very satisfied, I will stay here again next time i'm in town!

Room Tip: The 2nd floor rooms on the south side of the property (above the pool) are nice.

The room was a small suite so I had a sleeping area and a couch, tv, lounging area. The bed was very comfortable, lots of pillows. A quiet hotel, I couldn't hear my neighbors at all.The complimentary hot breakfast was the best I've had in a long time. My only complaint is that they didn't have ice makers on every floor. They were on every other floor so I had to travel up a floor to get ice. However, I would definitely stay there again. Good value for all the services. Also, they are located right next to the East Towne Mall and there's plenty of restaurants in the area.

This hotel was nice for the most part. The room was good and the staff was friendly and helpful.
There were a couple of issues I did have with the hotel.
When I first checked in, the room that they gave me smelled bad (mildew, I believe that it was due to the excessive amount of rain that Wisconsin had at the beginning of the summer). I let the front desk know and they gave me another room that did not have that smell.
The other issue I had is that they served the same thing for breakfast each day, no variation. We were there for 5 days.
The indoor pool was nice, but the hot tub did not get hot.
All in all for the price this was a fairly good hotel.
