Not sure what is going on with Hilldale Mall. The 'old' building - original building - is nearly empty. Metcalf's Market looks newly renovated - GREAT, but there are so many empty retail spaces in the rest of that mall.

They built a new building/structure just across from the 'old' building, and that development is full of new shops and restaurants. It was strange. I hope they can fill the 'old' mall building with shops soon.

We are so very sorry you found Hilldale confusing on your last visit here. We are in the middle of a 15 million dollar renovation and things do look to be in a bit of a jumble. We hope to emerge from our construction cocoon in late spring and we hope you'll continue to shop and dine with us during our metamorphosis. Thank-you for your comments. My mom and I traveled to Hilldale on a summer Saturday morning in July. We first hit the farmers market, which is located in the parking lot behind the mall. They definitely have just as good of a vegetable selection as the downtown farmers market, but with less car traffic and better parking options. By the time we finished at the market, the stores were just opening in the mall. We happened upon sidewalk sales days. Shoes were marked down $30 or more at Cornblooms, and I picked up a pair of Danko's and Keens, two brands that are hard to find on sale. Macy's was clearing their summer clothing to make way for the change of seasons, so sales on some great designer labels were in full swing. We finished our shopping morning by running through Metcalfes grocery store to find a few yummy deli items for a picnic dinner.

Went to Hilldale Mall with a group of friends. Macy's and Anthropologie are here, as well as many other classy retail shops and a fabulous grocery store. But, we were here to go to an independent film at Sundance Madison. Lots of amenities make this more special than your average movie theater. You can sip a glass of wine during the movie. Afterwards, we went to Gigi's cupcakes and David Bacco chocolates for treats to take home.
