such a great meal! great unique options and something for everyone. "fancy" food without being unapproachable. the burrata, poutine fries and pork belly were notably good. staff was really friendly and the atmosphere is nice. for a relatively upscale restaurant, the prices are not bad.

The menu offerings encourage sharing. For example, the charcuterie & cheese platter with three meat, two cheese selections and crisp French bread comfortably feeds two. We also shared an unusual special, roast veal breast. This was the first time I've seen this cut on a menu. Glazed like duck and served with sweetbreads was off the charts. A panna cotta with orange brandied cherries and short bread was a sweet touch for dessert. Being in Madison a fine beer list is essential. They have it, along with a good wine list.

Was invited to this restaurant as a bussiness dinner and I was a bit nervous about their menu when I checked it out, but to be honestly the food exceed my expectations , very good service and great timing, the idea or sharing the food was unusual for me but it was quite fun.
Highly recomment to try this place .

We met friends at A Pig..., our first visit, not theirs. We got there early as they take no reservations. Not a problem with space. Our friends had gotten there before us and had the duck fat fried potatoes on the table. We started snacking on them right away and found them to be outstanding. Ended up placing another order. Not only are they fried in the duck fat, they have a thin coating of parmigiano reggiano cheese making them really special. This is coming from someone that avoids fried foods. I would have them again in a second.

We went with the small plates, so can only comment on them. They were plenty, two of us shared 3 plates. Pappardelle, (a wide, flat noodle) with oxtail, mushroom and parmigiano reggiano cheese. It was really full of flavor and very good. Venison Ribs, were recommended by our server, Debbie, who was great. They were served with red corn polenta and cherry. I would have to say they were the hit of the 3 dishes we ordered. They were really good. The least favorite was a large ravioli, which included a duck egg, cooked only till soft, along with bacon, ricotta and Swiss chard. Something seemed to be missing in the one that we got. It had a lot of potential, but came up a bit short. For dessert, we ordered Sicilian Sfingi ($8.00) which we had to ask the server to explain. She said they were like a chocolate doughnut hole, but larger, and made with a ricotta cheese. Came in a bowl, enough for two people and drizzled with a good chocolate sauce. They were really good! We did not see any of the other desserts. I would be more than happy to return.
I don't drink, but they seemed to have a good variety of wine and nearly 40 different beer varieties. Most seem to be from high quality craft breweries.

The food here is great, but it is extremely rich (in fat, that is). They don't take reservasions, and Friday is a madhouse. Service is excellent.
