“Nice addition to Madison”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 June 2014 via mobile

Some friends and I stayed here for a weekend trip to Madison. We were kindly greeted and welcomed immediately despite our late arrival. The hotel is new and therefore in great condition. Our large room had two queen beds and a sofa sleeper. There was a large closet, fridge and bar sink, plus a large fresh and extra chairs. It was very comfy even with five adults. I didn't use the pool or fitness facilities but did walk by to check them out for future reference, and they looked like what one would expect for a hotel of this class.
The hotel required keys for the doors at night and for the elevators up to the guest floors, so security felt good.
The continental breakfast was huge and delicious. I only ate on Sunday morning because I got up early to eat everything in sight at the farmer's market on Saturday, but I wouldn't have been disappointed to have had to eat there twice. Plenty of healthy (and not so healthy) options.
The location is great and parking affordable. We walked everywhere so didn't have to bother with getting in and out of the hotel with the car, but it wouldn't be a problem. The hotel is just a few blocks off the square and State Street, making eating, drinking, and finding something to do a breeze.
I normally stay with friends in Madison but next time I need a hotel, I'll certainly choose the Hampton.

What a great report, thank you!
You're right, we're 10 months old and are working hard to maintain the brand new, high quality gift of a hotel we enjoy working in each day. And, yes, we're just a 10 minute stroll to the (Nations' Best!) Farmers Market where we, too, find that we can barely carry all the wonderful stuff each week. Thank you for staying with us and know we're looking forward to welcoming you back to Madison soon!

happy 4th!

Michael

We opted for the Hampton Inn and Suites Downtown for our stay in Madison...a great choice of hotels. Close to the capital buildings, university and downtown area (which was active the night we were in the city...an enjoyable time). Very nice hotel entrance foyer...great, informative reception staff. Large, well decorated rooms...very clean...ideal mattress, pillows, linen and towels. Overnight parking at the hotel is $12.00...very reasonable for a downtown hotel location. Great food and reasonable prices at a restaurant located within the hotel...one of their specialties is fresh donuts, which they offer before and after your meal!

An all-round great stay in Madison...we highly recommend this hotel.

We were in Madison Wisconsin for a wedding. We stayed at the Hampton/Madison. The room was beautiful, the hotel staff was great. Even the continental breakfast was great. Our only issue was that our room was not cleaned for 2 out of our 3 night stay. I would hope that this was an oversight and not the norm for a hotel of this quality.

The Hampton Inn & Suites have outdone themselves with this hotel. It was simply amazing from the decor to the room and staff. I will definitely come back but this time it will be for pleasure not business. The beds were soft and comfortable, the breakfast options were more than just your typical coffee and juice. I left a very satisfied customer, not to mention well-rested!

[I lived in Madison for almost 20 years and have visited many times since moving away two years ago.] My three visits to back to the amazing city of Madison since this Hampton opened last year have elevated these visits to a new level of awesomeness! Its prime location will surely tempt many travelers to consider staying here, and the wealth of positive reviews about this property are well-deserved. The Hampton brand (part of the HHonors family of hotels) has been getting an upgrade over the past few years so it is okay to raise your expectations! The lobby and breakfast areas are beautiful (the fireplaces are masterpieces, truly!). The 3 levels of parking located above the lobby level are a little tight to maneuver but worth it when you consider the efficient use of space and really convenient access between your vehicle and your room. I think this property is nice not just because it is new, but because it is build solidly and beautifully.

I was initially worried about hearing college students at bar time, but the combination of higher room floors (5th-10th floor) and concrete helped me get great sleep and still be just a few blocks from the capitol and State Street and dozens of restaurants and bars and shops.

If this is your first trip to Madison, you may be surprised at room & parking rates, but remember this remarkable downtown is packed with both a major university, a state capitol, and two really big lakes. Less space for sprawl, yet packed with possibilities!

Oh, and guests familiar with Madison will be delighted to hear there is a FoodFight restaurant RIGHT IN THE BUILDING! For those unfamiliar, this set of unique eateries located around Madison area (Monty's Blue Plate, Hubbard Ave Diner, Bluephies, Tex Tubb's, etc.) are legendary and having "Bassett Street Brunch Club" right in the hotel is both sinful and fabulous at the same time.

Wow, what a great, insightful and thoughtful report, thank you!
You're familiar not only with Madison, clearly, but, also, the Hampton brand. Thank you for capturing so generously your thoughts and sharing them here. They echo our own perception, including the passage about having FoodFight right here under our roof. Such an asset.
Thank you for taking the time to recognize not only the building but our team. It'll be a pleasure to share this with them today.

Warm regards and happy 4th,

Michael

My daughter and I were in town for a tour of the University of Wisconsin. The hotel was close to campus, a block from State Street and close to the Capital. We were able to walk to everything. The room was beautiful, clean and very comfortable. The breakfast featured hot and cold items and was very good. The pool looked very nice but we were too busy to use it. It was pricey for a Hampton, but once we were there it was worth every penny. It was an upscale property (only months olds) with a very courteous and well-trained staff. Will definitely stay here again.

This was probably the nicest Hampton Inn at which I have had the chance to stay. It is a fairly new property having opened within the past year from what I was told. The location was ideal for us on this visit as we had business at the University. I was able to walk back and forth to the campus building in which my business was based. It was also close to several dining options as State St. was easily reached by walking and Capitol Square was likewise within a few minutes stroll. The property itself was terrific as the appearance and layout was quite pleasing, breaking from the cookie-cutter mold of most highway-side Hamptons. Atop the lobby were four levels of parking and then six levels of rooms. The reception area and first level was wonderfully spacious with a very comfortable breakfast area. Unlike many Hamptons, there was plenty of seating for breakfast in the lobby and a nice little TV lounge area. The person checking us in was friendly and efficient. My son was with me on this trip and our room was on the ninth floor (one from the top) affording a different view of downtown Madison than I have had previously. The rooms were laid out in an interesting manner reflecting the fact that the building used to be student apartments. It was called a Jr. Suite and was certainly roomy. But there were no wall partitions between the sitting area (with a pullout sofa) and the bed area. There was an oversized, brobdingnagian desk that effectively acted as the demarcation dividing the sleeping and living areas. The room was clean and the amenities, including the WiFi, worked well for us. The bed was comfortable and our area was quiet allowing for a good night's sleep. The complimentary breakfast was adequate though not great as is the case most of the time with Hamptons. There were eggs, sausages and oatmeal for hot options as well as breads, pastries, fruit and juice. One difference between this and most Hamptons was that there was also a restaurant attached for those wanting to upgrade their food choices. The checkout was handled quickly and efficiently allowing us to get on our way. The rate was perhaps a touch expensive ($150s per night) but I thought it reasonable for the quality of the accommodations and amenities. The only complaint I might have was that the parking was $12. I thought it a little unnecessary to charge hotel guests for this. My son commented as we were leaving, however, that this might have been the best Hampton in which he had ever stayed. I would have to concur as this is a hotel I would recommend to anyone visiting Madison. The property is excellent and the location is superb.

What a thoughtful review, Debbie, thank you. Know that we will redouble efforts to think about ways to make the breakfast a cut above. The good news is that we can provide the same great array of options as other Hampton Inns yet, since it is that.. the same, we'll look to infuse it with some 'Hamptonality' to make it an even better experience.
Thank you for selecting us and know that we'd love to welcome you back.

Warm regards and happy 4th,

Michael
