“Neat idea”
Reviewed 2 August 2013

This is an interesting place. At Flat Top Grill, you choose your own starch, vegetables, meat, and sauce and the staff cooks it in front of you. So if you mix things that shouldn't really go together, it doesn't taste right. On the other hand, if you know what you're doing, it might taste better. They do provide popular ingredient mixes to give you a baseline if you're completely lost.

So, the best thing about this place is the all-you-can-eat. You pay 1 or 2 bucks more to do buffet style, rather than just get one bowl (which can taste bad if you mess up). A great deal. My favorite, however, is not the unlimited stir fry you can create, but the nan bread that you can have with each bowl you make.

Overall, neat idea. I approve.

“Healthy and Fun”
Reviewed 4 May 2013 via mobile

The price is good, but it takes practice to pick your own stir fry. They had all kinds of options for every kind of diet and it was fun to experiment. There are plenty of helpers, but I enjoyed just trying combinations on my own. I must confess I was craving a cookie or sundae after dinner. A sundae bar would be a really cool, but high calorie addition.

“Average food for high prices”

Try Hu Hot on the West side--better selections and prices. Flat Top doesn't give you a salad for the price, just one flat bread, and there is less selection.

“My favorite spot in Madison!”
Reviewed 30 January 2013

Love it! My favorite part is that you can pick out what you want and how much of it! Like more rice than veggies, you got it! You can make lettuce wraps or just eat it out of the bowl! The sesame soy sauce is my favorite! Portions are as big or as small as you want them to be. Service is always friendly and the restaurant is clean which is very important! Great place!

It's a lot of fun for families, and friends. They have every possible vegetable you could imagine being in a stir fry. The bread is amazing too. I usually get two-three each round.
