We have spent each of the last nine years looking forward to our annual Bed and Breakfast weekend at The Speckled Hen Inn with our closest friends. We have stayed in every room but the new Madison Lakes Room and each one has its own homey charm while being luxuriously restful. Pat and Bob are truly wonderful hosts and the breakfasts are mouthwateringly perfect. The Inn is a gem in Madison with a relaxing atmosphere with plenty to see and do every time we come. The gazebo is a wonderful place to play cards, listen to music or just watch the clouds go by. The trails around the Inn are fun to walk through but nothing too difficult to navigate and the animals, including the Speckled Hens down by the barn are fun to watch. There are two wonderful community lounge areas - one upstairs, one downstairs to sit and read, watch TV, have a glass of wine, browse on the internet or play a game. Every time we leave we want to take the bed, the bathrobes and Pat as our cook home with us. Highly, Highly, Highly recommend.

Room Tip: our favorite room is the Heywood Hardy - if you have one in your couple who sleeps in and one who is...

Our stays at the Speckled Hen are always wonderful!! We have had the opportunity to experience every room and love them all! The food is absolutely fabulous as are the innkeepers! The inn and grounds are beautiful, peaceful, and relaxing! We love Happy, too! We look forward to our stay every year...Pat and Bob, you are the best!

The Speckled Hen Inn is our favorite B & B . We've stayed at B & Bs in many cities and none we've found can match the ambience, quality breakfasts and interesting conversations with the hosts and guests at the Speckled Hen. Bob and Pat, and especially Happy, the dog, make us feel welcome. Our son and his lady friend just celebrated a weekend at the Inn and report an enjoyable and romantic experience. You are sure to love it.

Our children gave us a B & B gift certificate a few years ago to the Speckled Hen and we've been coming back 3 - 5 times a year ever since. Bob and Pat are so welcoming and the breakfast is awesome. We really enjoy strolling through the gardens to see what's new and wandering over to the barn and through the woods. Of course, a stay would not be complete without a walk with Happy, the Inn's wonderful dog. The rooms are beautiful and the common area is great for meeting the other lodgers and sharing a glass of wine, tea or coffee. If you visiting Madison, don't miss this excellent B & B.

I have to say that I’ve never stayed at a B&B before where I felt so incredibly at home, and (even better!), pampered! Bob and Pat are the ultimate innkeepers – friendly, engaging, and ready and willing to meet every need. The only friendlier soul on the place is Happy, the Golden Doodle inn dog. (Would have loved to have taken him home!) The atmosphere here is like none other – so easy to get to, yet so out-of-the-city tranquil and peaceful with the llamas and sheep, the beautiful gardens, and the extensive variety of birds that never seem to stop singing! (A great thing for a bird lover!) And breakfast – unbelievable – both the food and the entertaining conversation. Needless to say, I’ll be back as soon as possible.

Beautiful B&B juts outside of Madison, with terrific hosts, comfortable beds, a very friendly dog, and a delicious and decadent 3-course breakfast. We didn't have to have lunch the whole weekend we were there! I would recommend the Speckled Hen to anyone. Really a very pleasant place to stay.

Room Tip: We were in the Rising Sun room, which is a little smaller than most of the rooms and has an across t...

We were 2 couples, stayed for 2 nights this May, could not have been better taken care of. Hosts Pat and Bob are a great team, make you feel at ease and welcomed. Rooms are large, well appointed, modern, lots of living room space for guests (we ate, had happy hour in one one evening...), friendly big non-shedding dog, small farm environment with lots of local food used (eggs, cherries, jam, etc). Website has lots of ideas about stuff to do. Free coffee, cookies, computer, cokes, etc. always available. One room is a steal since it is cheaper due to bath being across the hall (robes included). Only drawback (not a big deal) is that noise from nearby I 90 was present.

Room Tip: see write up- one room has bath across hall, is a good deal...
