We 6 people went together and rented 3 Tandem Kayaks and stayed 2 hours on the lake. Total 26$ for each kayak. Some places there are many sea weeds I don't feel it's a good place for swimming but for boating is absolutely fine. We had a good time.

We rented paddleboats from Wingra's location in Brittingham Park. The staff were helpful and got us on the water quickly. They have tons of life jackets, paddles, etc. and are ready to accommodate a lot of people. We rented 3 paddleboats for our group of 11, and only one of the boats worked well (a four person one with pontoons). The other four-person boat didn't paddle well and there seemed to be seaweed (or would it be lake-weed?) stuck in the bottom. We also rented a 2-person boat that worked OK, though the seat backs were tricky to move. It seems their biggest business is with kayaks and stand up paddle boards, and these boats are made not the main thing. Still, we got the kids out on the water and had fun.

Enjoyed an awesome afternoon SUP on Lake Monona. The staff are incredibly sweet and helpful. The locker rental was key since I needed somewhere to store my smartphone. The location is perfect - just two small bridges to paddle under and you're right in the middle of the lake. I was able to see the Capitol and the crew team practice. What a great way to explore Madison!

It was a hot, sunny, calm day... Perfect for being out on the water! We arrived mid-morning and thoroughly enjoyed our two hour kayak and stand-up paddle board experience! (We had little to no previous experience doing these activities, but quickly became very comfortable; you can do it!!). The guys running the rental shop were fun and helpful. The only side was that the lake was a bit weedy until you got out into the middle. Overall it was a blast! Highly recommend!

Great young people checked us thru fast. So many fun human powered watercraft available. Even swan paddle boats. Perfect for the kids; tho we were 3 adults kayaking. Smallish Lake Wingra is full of seaweed from what I could tell, you won't be swimming. A nice diversion near the zoo.
