“An awesome experience staying at the La Maison Marigny B&B!!!”

My sister (Liz) and I always do a "sister's weekend getaway" once a year, this year we decided to go to New Orleans. This was our first visit to this city and we have to say that what made our vacation perfect was the B&B we stayed at, La Maison Marigny. Not only were the accommodations lovely, clean and comfortable, but we were just a short stroll away from all of the fun attractions going on in the French Quarter. Our host at the B&B (John) was extremely friendly and helpful and a joy to talk with as well. The breakfasts were extremely tasty and plentiful (the freshly made muffins each morning were OUT OF THIS WORLD!). I would highly recommend this B&B to anyone who is planning on visiting New Orleans and wants all of the comforts of being near many fun attractions, yet also having tranquility with being in a quiet part of town as well.

“Championship Weekend”

My husband and I stayed at La Maison Marigny for 3 nights during the College Football National Championship Weekend. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the B&B proved to be perfect for a long weekend getaway. The balcony room provided us with a beautiful, comfortable room with a great view of the "quieter" side of Bourbon. We thoroughly enjoyed the homemade breakfast each morning.....especially the muffins and the kingcake!! The location of the B&B is absolutely the perfect spot. It is situated perfectly.....in walking distance of the French Quarter and the many festivities that occur there but also just far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the crowd...especially since there were such a large number of people in town this particular weekend. We absolutely loved it!

“Christmas In New Orleans”

We just got back from a New Orleans-style Christmas and we love love loved the Maison Marigny. Being a proud Tulanian, I was happy to discover that this cozy b&b near the Frenchman area is owned by a fellow Tulane alum.

We stayed on the second floor in the Balcony room which overlooks a calm, quiet section of Bourbon...the balcony was a great space, especially since it was accessible only from our room. We appreciated the Neutrogena shampoo and bath gel and the shower was great...amazing water pressure and amount of hot water for New Orleans.

Lots of great little touches...Abita in the fridge in our room, Louisiana magazines everywhere, snacks downstairs, and an up-to-date dvd collection for rainy days.

I enjoyed a great lemon poppyseed muffin in the cute green courtyard, while using the complimentary wi-fi, even! The pound cake/strawberry/Nutella breakfast panini was amazing--and the delicious pumpkin bread got us through the late night munchies.

We highly recommend this b&b and hope to stay here again...

“Wonderful three night getaway!”

My husband and I stayed at La Maison Marigny mid-November to celebrate my birthday. This was our first trip to New Orleans and the first time we had ever stayed at a B&B, and we loved it! The house is on Bourbon St., but a few blocks from the heart of the French Quarter... great location because it is a short walk to everything but wasn't noisy or crowded at night. Clubs on Frenchmen's St. (Snug Harbor, d.b.a., Spotted Cat) are also just a short walk from the house. Breakfast was a treat every morning: fresh fruit, fresh coffee, and homemade waffles or muffins. John is such a wonderful host, he made us feel right at home and offered suggestions for sightseeeing, restaurants, and music. The next time we are in NoLa, we know where to stay!

“Outstanding Stay”

We stayed there a saturday-saturday across Thanksgiving, and had a fabulous time. Originally, when booking, the "room with a view" we wanted was booked, but John gave us a free upgrade to the master suite for the 7 day stay. In retrospect, I'm so glad we managed to stay at the Maison Marigny.

Generally, honestly, I wasn't a fan of B&B's - but this one definately turned me around. John and Dewey's approach is to be there when needed, and disappear otherwise - a perfect balance in a B&B host. I came to look forward John's freshly baked muffins every morning, and little chats about fun things to do for the day. There were maps listing local highly-rated restaurants, and different bars/music locations for different age-brackets and lifestyles. They were very helpful in making the trip an overall resounding success - anything from good food, which swamp tours are best, to good evening jazz venues.

The building itself is very nice - an updated classical style building with a front porch and nicely maintained garden out back. Our room was the master suite - a "just right" sized suite of 2 rooms, a bedroom and living room - outfitted just as you might need. We wagged along our usual accompaniment of computers and MP3 players, but they really weren't necessary - a nice stereo in the room, and a computer in the sun room out back were enough that we could have really travelled "electronics free" - though the free wireless was definately a boon to us.

The location is wonderful, and well situated. With an address on the infamous Bourbon street, I was worried about (ahem) "ambient" noise from the streets at night. The location is about 4 or 5 blocks away from the big party district and is in a very quiet area - but situated right on the edge of a small area of restaurants and bars in the Marginy district ("where grown-ups party", as John coined it aptly). With a cross-street that was well-known, no cab driver needed to fumble to find where you were going (even if, after a long evening, you weren't very articulate about where you needed to go).

In short, a wonderful house, charming hosts, great location -- a wonderful place to stay for adults hoping to get the most out of an always-to-brief stay in New Orleans.

“Like home in N.O.”

This was our first trip back to N.O.since Katerina. John Ramsey was/is a pleasure to prep our trip and during our stay. John arranged reservations at several terrific restaurants including where to order a birthday cake at a local French bakery. We felt like this B&B was our home especially coming home at night and the morning with discussions with the other guests over John's muffins with fresh fruit. The location is perfect at the end of Bourbon just one block out of the quarter in a hip neighborhood. We will stay at La Maison on our next trip to N.O with out hesitation. Thanks, J&J.

“One of the Best B&B's We've Stayed At!”

This was a return trip for me (after many years) and a first for my partner. Absolutely couldn't have picked a better property to stay at for our Thanksgiving get-away. Close to the action, but right in the heart of a nice residential area at the end of Bourbon Street. It was nice to come "home" each evening to a place that truly felt like home. And John is an absolutely wonderful host - friendly, full of recommendations, concerned that you have a great time, and makes a killer continental breakfast. It was really a great experience and one that I highly recommend to anyone looking for a true New Orleans experience that gives you the fun and craziness of the city but also gives you the escape to the heart of Southern Hospitality.
Thanks John and Doohie and the wonderful people of New Orleans. It is time to put New Orleans back on your travel itineraries. The city is ready to welcome you with open arms and the southern charm it is know for!
