Owner description: New Orleans' Preservation Hall was established in 1961 to honor one of America's truest art forms - Traditional New Orleans Jazz. Operating as a music venue, a touring band, and a non-profit organization, Preservation Hall continues its mission today as a cornerstone of New Orleans music and culture. Situated in the heart of the French Quarter on St. Peter Street, the Preservation Hall venue presents intimate, acoustic New Orleans Jazz concerts over 350 nights a year featuring ensembles from a current collective of 100+ local master practitioners. On any given night, audiences bear joyful witness to the evolution of this venerable and living tradition.

“Definite Must for New Orleans Trip”
Reviewed 28 November 2013

If you travel to New Orleans and want to experience Jazz music, then try this place. The music and closeness to the performers is outstanding.

Only item worth noting is arrive early (would say about 45 minutes prior to begin times) to get in and get a half decent seat. Numerous people have to stand due to small venue.

Also no bathrooms in facility so plan ahead.

“This place is about tourist money, not music.”
Reviewed 27 November 2013

Let me state for the record that I did not visit this place on my last trip, as I was burned many times before. Things to consider:

-expensive for what you get

-no seating except for “VIP” option, which gives you a long hard stool to sit on

-no pictures

-I saw the band named after this place, and they were bored, listless and this was the last place they wanted to be

-very very hot in warm weather

-much better options all over the Quarter

-Not recommend by any stretch of the imagination

“Time traveling”
Reviewed 26 November 2013

Do not miss Preservation Hall ! Grab a cocktail at Pat O'Briens and stand in line for a 45-60 minute music set. The atmosphere inside make you feel as if you are in a jazz club the way it was performed and heard many, many, years ago. GO !

“Great experience”
Reviewed 24 November 2013 via mobile

My wife and I aren't really jazz connoisseurs but I wanted to check this place out while we were staying nearby. We bought the Big Shot VIP seats so we could sit. The New Orleans Legacy Band was awesome and they left us wishing for more. That and the fact that the sets only last for 45 minutes. Wish they would extend the length of the shows. The place certainly oozes with character and ambiance.
