Trad jazz was redefined in New Orleans a few years ago when the young guys from the Northeast and beyond flooded into the city and started busking in the French Quarter. They brought new energy into the music and played jazz the way it was played a hundred years ago. The jazz played in Preservation Hall sounds tired and worn out. Jazz was played to dance to, not to sit down and listen to. The PH jazz is sit down jazz.
