“If you don't want to be in the French Quarter...”
Reviewed 30 August 2013

The hotel rooms are charming but a little wanting for amenity. There is some grandness to the whole building that does trickle down to the hotel rooms but really the highlights are the stunning balcony and porch overlooking St Charles Ave.

Every night the ground floor seems full of jazz and great local nightlife and characters all round!

Would recommend as a great New Orleans experience, and a laid back easy way to experience some of the New Orleans vibe! A must go!

“New Orleans Landmark”
Reviewed 2 August 2013

My high school class had an "informal" evening get-together after our reunion luncheon so we could bring our husbands, dates, friends, or whoever we wanted to bring along. Some of our classmates were outside on the porch, but it was late June, so it was a bit more comfortable inside. We occupied a room across from the bar and was well lit and had a number of small tables. We didn't see wait staff very frequently, so my friend and I went to the bar to order since we were hungry and didn't want to wait until someone came around to take our order. The bartender gladly took our order and offered to keep the tab open for us. We let him know we would be in the other room so a server could find us when the food was ready. Two appetizers and two drinks came to about $40. The bar area was quite busy and there were quite a few servers, but they were not intrusive. The room we were in was a nice size and gave us ample room to mingle. The Columns has become a part of our reunion, so I'm sure we'll all be back in five years, and I'm sure the locals will be back sooner!

“Favorite part of our trip to New Orleans!”
Reviewed 9 April 2013

A friend familiar with the area recommended that we stop by the Columns Hotel for drinks on the veranda and I'm so happy that he did! After spending the morning in Carrolton/Audubon Park we took the streetcar back to the French Quarter but made a 2-hour stop at the Columns Hotel for drinks and a quick bite to eat. The porch is quite spacious but seemed to be busy this sunny afternoon. We were very lucky to walk up and get a table right away. We had been meaning to try the cocktails only New Orleans serves up best and our stop at the Columns Hotel was the prefect way to sample them all. The mint julep and the french 75 were our favorites! We also had the Monica mac with crawfish which hit the spot once the sun went down and there was a chill in the air. If we are ever back, I'd love to try their brunch. Overall, the ambiance was great, service friendly, and a great way to spend a relaxing afternoon.

Wonderful stay, Great location. If you are looking for modern keep looking. If you want charm this is your place. Bathroom could use some work, but the rest of the place made up for it. Great breakfast. Wonderful staff.
