We visited this museum on a recent visit to New Orleans and thoroughly enjoyed spending a couple of hours there. The outsider art collection is particularly interesting, but we enjoyed the rest, too. A great way to get out of the heat and enjoy some wonderful art when you're in the Big Easy.

The Ogden Museum of Southern Art was very interesting and we like the local and southern themes of much of the art. Good examples of southern culture and history in the works.

The Ogden Museum of Southern Art was a nice surprise. I work in an art museum, so I always make a point to visit the art museums in the cities I visit on vacation. The Ogden is a short streetcar ride from the French Quarter, and worth the short trip. The collection is great, and the museum itself is beautiful.

The flow in this art museum is great. The receptionist suggested that you start on the top floor, so I took the elevator to the 5th floor, where the folk art is. You are greeted by a giant rocking horse made of a variety of items. The horse faces a patio with several other sculptures, and a good view of the surrounding area. It's a nice start to the tour.

On each floor, you come off the stairs from the previous floor, walk the floor, and arrive at the stairs that descend to the next. The Civil War photography exhibit, dimly lit for preservation, was an impressive mix of art and history. I really liked the flow of this museum, that presented a first-rate collection.

I like particularly the photographic exhibits. The layout was very good as was the lighting. The exhibition covered a wide range of southern professional and self taught artists - well worth the visit.
