Owner description: There's just enough voodoo lore here to introduce you to the history and culture of this spiritual practice and to tempt you to bring home a love potion or voodoo doll as a souvenir. Guided swamp, plantation and cemetery tours are available.

This is a very unusual and interesting museum in the heart of the French Quarter. Based on a personal collection it is located within rooms of a house. Each room is crammed full of artefacts with every item explained. You do need to take time to explore each cabinet and wall display to have the full experience. The staff are incredibly knowledgeable and will answer any questions you have. This is an essential visit to make!

The people who run this museum are super nice and let us hang out with their snakes which was fun but the 'museum' itself is lacking. I didn't know about any tour done by the museum but it sounds like our experience would have been much better with some explanation. The 'museum' is essentially two rooms of stuff and cards to read but we didn't find it very interesting at all. Others recommend a tour so maybe try that and hopefully that enhances the experience.

The Museum is just one step in what is a terrific tour and sightseeing opportunity.
Its only 2 rooms jam packed with great artifacts and curiosity's but without the tour you won't fully appreciate it.
When you buy tickets to the tour you get into the museum for free.
The tour will take you through Congo Square, St Louis Cemeteries no1 and back through the French Quarter and our guide, Gerry, pointed out things and trivia that we wouldn't have noticed otherwise.

We arrived about 15 minutes prior to the start of our tour which gave us an opportunity to visit with the gentleman selling the tickets. This was a bonus since he informed us he was a genuine voodoo priest, and was very interesting to listen to and of course he was very knowledgeable! Then, when out tour started, the guide was the brother of the man that owned the museum, and we couldn't have asked for a better guide!! Thoroughly enjoyed this tour and would highly recommend it! Learned so much about voodoo along with the customs and history of NOLA.!!
