Lucky's Bar and Grill is part of the Igor's family of bars. It's open 24/7/365. That's right - Bloody Marys at 9 AM, or Tequila shots at 3 AM or a cold beer at 4 PM - they have it all.
It's right on the streetcar line (St. Charles/Euterpe) in the Lower Garden District. It's a few blocks from Igor's itself, but I much prefer Lucky's.
This is an excellent place to stop in and rest a bit, and perhaps wash your clothes - it's a laundromat, as well! Machines are located in the back.
The people here (both the bartenders and the clientele) are really friendly, and the drink prices are very reasonable. They have pub food (burgers, fries, cheese sticks, etc) that's pretty good, especially at 4 AM! They also have free Red Beans & Rice on Monday evenings.
They often have live music, but I love sitting on their porch and watching the streetcars and passersby.
If you want to watch a sports game or weather broadcast, you need only to ask the bartender, and they'll put it on one of their TV screens.
My only disappointment is the internet jukebox. They used to have a great "real" juke, but it's been replaced with this thing. To make it worse, some songs - or even bands! - aren't even available to play. No Led Zeppelin, for one thing.
Also - a lot of the local music and artists - Cajun, Zydeco, Blues and Jazz - are not available to play on that box! This is distressing.
Dogs are welcome at the bar (on the porch) - there is a water dish on the porch.
Lucky's also has two pool tables, a dart board, and video poker machines.
This is a great "locals" bar, if you get tired of all the tourist-hyper places in the Quarter. It's one of my favorite places in New Orleans.
One final note - during Mardi Gras, the parades pass right by. Get there early, grab a seat on the porch, and take in the view.
