We've just left a 3 night stay in New Orleans. This hotel is very old and beautiful. I will say that it could use a few modern updates. I wished the rooms could come with an optional fan. However , what the hotel lacked the staff made up for !!! Best staff ! Hands down !!!!

Hello kschultz,

Thank you for taking the time to post this review. It’s great to hear that you enjoyed your stay and especially that you were impressed with our staff. Customer service and guest satisfaction is our number one priority so it’s good to hear that our employees are living up to our expectations!

As you probably have heard, The Cornstalk Hotel has recently come under a new management company. While we definitely will be keeping the atmosphere and style of the hotel the same we will be doing some updates which include adding some more modern amenities. We’d love to have you and your friends back at the hotel so you can see all the changes we've made here.

Once again thank you for choosing The Cornstalk Hotel. It was our pleasure serving you!

Beautiful, historic house. The most friendly and helpful staff--manager to housekeeping--of any place we have ever stayed. We felt like family there. Our room was on the second floor, at the back. Very small, but we knew that when we booked. It was comfortable and quiet, even though it was during Mardi Gras when we were here. We parked here, for a reasonable fee, and it was nice having the car right outside. No in and out, but the location is so perfect that there was no need to drive anywhere. The bathroom was small, but OK. Only complaint of the whole stay was that the water pressure was not very good.
We would definitely stay here again (can't make a higher reccomendation than that). Only difference is, when we come back, we will choose one of the larger rooms. We had an oportunity to peek into some of the other rooms, and they were beautiful.
The Hotel is under new management, and Susie and the rest of the staff are working very hard to make this a great place to stay. They are succeeding, in my opinion.

Hi Roy_and_Peggy2014

I’m so glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay and that you’d stay here again! Hearing that guest’s would come back again is really some of the highest praise we can get. One of the great things about The Cornstalk is that it’s a peaceful haven in the midst of the craziness of the French Quarter. Like you mention, even during Mardi Gras once you step into the hotel you aren’t disturbed by what’s happening outside.

It’s so gratifying to hear that you’re appreciative of the new management at The Cornstalk Hotel. Our number one goal is to make the guests happy and getting positive feedback like this just makes my day!

I can’t stress enough how much we appreciate you choosing The Cornstalk Hotel for your stay in New Orleans and for taking the time to write this review. You are truly a valued guest at The Cornstalk Hotel and we can’t wait to see you again!

This place is the epitome of New Orleans atmosphere. We go to NOLA often but this is the first time we have stayed at the Cornstalk. It won't be the last. All the charm and elegance you would expect from old world New Orleans. Close to everything but quite enough to sit on the spacious front porch and just "people watch". Can't wait till the next time.....

Hi Mike F

I’m so glad to hear that you enjoyed The Cornstalk Hotel and its unique Nola charm! I speak for the whole staff when I say that it was an absolute pleasure having y’all here. There really isn’t anything better than sitting on the front porch on a nice day and taking in the French Quarter atmosphere. If you ignore the cars going past you really start to feel like you’ve been transported to the nineteenth century!

We can’t wait to see you back here!

My husband and I stayed at the Cornstalk for 4 nights. We felt that it was a lovely hotel with excellent location and a helpful staff. We stopped by the hotel throughout the day to drop off packages, change for dinner, etc because it was so close to everything. The decor was beautiful and authentic to the time period of the architecture. We were on the ground floor of the hotel, but did not find any issues with privacy or sound, from the street or other guests in the hotel. I also really liked that there was always a staff person at the front desk. My husband and I have stayed in other small hotels/inns/B&Bs where the front desk staff goes home at the end of the night and that's it until the next day! We were provided with anything we asked for -- iron, kleenex, extra water, whatever. They also called a cab for the airport while we went to breakfast and it was waiting when we returned.
We have only 2 complaints, but I would like to first mention that we said nothing to the hotel, not because we didn't feel they would care, but because these were not simple/quick fixes. 1) the carpets desperately need to be cleaned/replaced and 2) the water temperature fluctuated a lot during showers.
We would definitely stay here again and appreciate that the hotel seemed to genuinely care about our stay and our satisfaction.

Hello LaurenB3144,

Thank you so much for choosing the Cornstalk Hotel for your recent trip to New Orleans. I really appreciate you taking the time to write us a review and I’m delighted to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us. You are definitely a valued Cornstalk guest and we really hope we’ll see you back here again!

We’ve just recently made the switch over to 24 hour desk service and I think that it’s been a big success. It’s very important for our staff to be able offer our services at any time of day or night, especially in a city that never (or at least rarely) sleeps like New Orleans.

Thanks again and we hope to see you next time!

All the best,

This hotel is gorgeous. It is very nice inside and out if you want a historic place to stay. It is 1 block from Bourbon street which was nice. A short 2 minute walk and you are in the "crazy" side of New Orleans but as it's a block away, it was quiet at night. I would not want to stay any closer to that craziness. Our room was on the first floor right by the stairs and you could hear people walking up and down sometimes. If you are a super light sleeper, I would opt for the top floor.

Hello Tulsadivers

Thank you once again for choosing The Cornstalk Hotel for your stay in New Orleans. We appreciate your business and that you took the time to write a review.

One of the many benefits of being on Royal Street (as opposed to Bourbon Street) is that this area really quiets down a lot at night. Although there are hundreds of restaurants and bars within a short walk of the hotel, the noise doesn’t really carry over here. Although I do agree, the second floor is a bit quieter than the ground floor, especially if you’re a light sleeper.

Thanks once again and we hope to see you back here!

Sincerely,

We've stayed at the Cornstalk twice, which tells you our overall satisfaction. The positives here are the location, upper Royal St in the Quarter, and the relatively lower price. It is however a B&B without the breakfast, although they give you (if you ask) a voucher for a coffee from the corner shop. Amenities are few and you have to like old buildings, squeaky floors, finicky plumbing etc. Not for those who want the Four Seasons ambiance. But if you like high ceilings, chandeliers, four poster beds and few people this is the place. Oh, and ask for a first floor room, no elevator.

Hello Nceguy

It’s always great to have guests continue to come back and we appreciate your loyalty. Though we do have the feel of a B&B we definitely don’t classify ourselves as one, since we don’t offer breakfast. We’re actually a luxury boutique hotel, very different from a modern chain hotel indeed. You definitely speak the truth when you say that we’re the place for anyone looking for more history, New Orleans charm, and great customer service!

We hope to see you another time in the future!

We've stayed here about 6 times over the last 15 years. Seems like home. Pleasant staff.
We prefer the front rooms for spacious accomodations. The bathrooms are typical Euro - small with low ceilings.
We look forward to coming back again and again.
