Reviewed 16 February 2011

spent 4 nites at the dauphine.

PROS

1.location was great- a block off of bourbon so it was relatively quiet and since we were in the french quarter we were able to walk everywhere we needed to go;
2.shower had good pressure and bed was comfy;
3.nice small bar adjacent to the hotel- only complaint was the nighttime female bartender was unpleasant both times we went;
4.garage attendants were speedy in getting our car.
5. free wifi worked very well

CONS

1. housekeeping was spotty. our room was clean when we arrived but it was quite apparent that the room was not vacumned during our 4 nites;
2. we stayed at the hermann house, across the street from the main hotel. that itself was fine but we could not open a window so to get some air we had to open the front door;
3. they have no brand name 16 oz. waters on sale in your room for $3 per bottle

Thank you so much for selecting the Dauphine Orleans for your stay in New Orleans and for taking the time to review your stay. I am so happy that you enjoyed your stay and truly appreciate the points you made both postive and constructive criticism. We are looking into your experiences in our bar and with housekeeping during your stay; neither of which we consider acceptable. Again, we look forward to your stay and appreciate the comments as we can never improve without friends like you. Please let us know when you plan to return and we can recommend a balcony room for you as this may be better suited to your needs than our historic buildings with courtyard access.

We hope to see you again soon.

Best,

Dawn

My mom, sister, and myself stayed here in June 2010. The outside of the hotel is so nice and the check in process was very fast and easy. Rooms are small but they have great beds and linens. I was very pleasantly surprised by that. We had a room over the wonderful parking lot.
This is where hell began!! The first night, we got NO sleep. And I'm talking NO sleep. The parking attendants are SO loud. First of all they leave cars idling so you can hear them because they are echoing throughout the building. The parking attendants themselves were talking and yelling so loud we could hear their entire offensive conversation. I called down to the front desk but that did not deter them.
I don't remember if it got better the rest of the week. After walking around New Orleans in 100 degree heat with a heat index of 120 degrees, you pass out. Good thing the beds are comfortable.
The continental breakfast was nice. Bagels, yogurt, fruit, and oatmeal. Perfect light breakfast to get the day started.
We did not use the pool though it was small and very inviting. The location is good but it is the furthest hotel from Jackson square. You do NOT want to go any further north than Dauphine Street. Bourbon St is one block away but the noise stays on that side, you don't hear it.
I would recommend this hotel but request a room that is NOT over the parking lot if you want to get some sleep.

Thank you so much for your review. I am so happy that your enjoyed your stay with us and our amenities were received as intended- comfortable and inviting. With regards to the evening noise, we truly apologize for the inconvenience and particularly for the insufficient handling of your voiced complaint. Due to the layout of the hotel, many guests choose the parking area as their entrance to the property, also hourly parkers picking up their cars late at night can create noise disturbances- all of which we try to control particularly during early and late hours. While we do not wish any of these factors to disturb your stay, we truly hope that it was not our employees that created the disturbance. However, we would love to take the necessary steps to correct this should it indeed have been employees. If you are so inclined, we would appreciate a call regarding your experience so we may look deeper into the situation and the parties involved. Please call me directly at 504-586-1897 if you would like to share any further details.

We hope you will join us for another stay soon. A courtyard room may be the perfect location for your next stay.

Best,

Dawn

I visited the Dauphine Orleans Hotel with some friends in mid-January of 2011. We arrived a little late on a Friday evening and were greeted at the front desk by Becky. She was so pleasant and friendly and checked us in very quickly. We stayed in a room on the second floor and had a balcony over Dauphine Street. The room was very nice and clean and we didn't have any trouble with street noise. The beds were super comfortable, which was so perfect after a long day of walking around the French Quarter. Great location, friendly staff and comfy beds- we all agreed that we would definitely stay here again. Thanks!

Thank you so much for sharing your pleasant experience. Becky will be so pleased to hear that you remembered her. Our courtyard, balcony and beds are some of our best features, but we feel strongly, that our best feature is our team and appreciate you noticing. Please let us know when you are able to return. Dauphine Orleans is one block away from Bourbon Street....perfect location because it is close enough to get to everything, but you can escape the noise late at night. When I was searching for a hotel it was important for me to find one that was unique and gave me the real feel of being in the French Quarter (as opposed to what I otherwise felt I'd get in a major hotel chain). The Dauphine is quaint, offers a courtyard, and also offers rooms with balconies (either overlooking the courtyard or Dauphine Street). The hotel had recently undergone a renovation, which was nice. Our room had two double beds with amazing mattresses (I think they were memory foam). Most of the bathroom had been renovated. The room itself had everything you'd need (a good size mini fridge, computer desk, sitting chair, dresser, flat screen tv, and free wi-fi). Our room also had double plantation doors leading to a shared balcony that overlooked Dauphine Street (my favorite part about the hotel). There is breakfast served until 10am every morning which offers waffles, cereal, oatmeal, sausage, bagels, muffins, fruit, etc. You receive a free complimentary drink ticket when you arrive for May Bailey's which is right next door. For the most part, the staff was friendly and helpful. The only "complaint" I have about the hotel is that the dresser drawers were very small and couldn't really fit anything more than socks (totally fine living out of a suitcase though). The tub faucet was also on full blast during the shower but I know a lot of tubs are like that. The trash trucks in the morning did serve as our alarm clocks! Otherwise, the stay was perfect.
The Dauphine Orleans made my stay in New Orleans that much better. Hands down, when I return to the area, I will be staying here again.

My husband and I spent 3 nights at the Dauphine Orleans January 17-20. We had just a king bed room which was very nice and comfortable. The January special offer was perfect for what we needed. The cost included room, parking, breakfast, and all taxes. For being a block off of Bourbon Street, the hotel was very quiet at night to enjoy a good nights sleep. We were in walking distance of many New Orleans sites. The desk clerks were all very helpful in recommending restaurants and directions. We would recommend this location to anyone wanting to stay in the French Quarter.

We wanted to stay near Bourbon street but not on it for our first trip to New Orleans and the French Quarter. After much research, we picked the Dauphine Orleans. It turned out to be an excellent choice. The location for activities and access turned out to be perfect. The room was great and the bar was a nice peaceful retreat from the other noisy bars in the area. There was even a quaint used bookstore across the street that was worth a visit.
