“Very nice place”
Reviewed 15 April 2012

This is a very nice place to stay. It is close enough to the Bourbon street action yet far enough away to avoid the crazyness. We were very comfortable there. We went to the bar several times and had some exceptional cocktails.

fenthor,

Thank you for contributing your review from your recent stay. I agree that the hotel boasts an amazing location that is close, yet far enough away from all the action and excitement the city has to offer. We appreciate you visiting the Sazerac Bar where the drinks and bartenders are very much exceptional. Thanks for staying with The Roosevelt New Orleans!

The hotel was absolutely beautiful, the concierge was fantastic (GW Fins was a great recommendation), and the hazelnut nutella blackberry waffles were TO DIE FOR!!! The 24 hour room service was great too. My only minor criticism is that there was a lot of street noise (car engines racing, etc) from my room in Tower 1. If noise is a problem for you, consider asking for a quieter room. Otherwise it was fantastic!

Room Tip: My only minor criticism is that there was a lot of street noise (car engines racing, etc) from my ro...

The Roosevelt is a beautiful old school style glamorous hotel. The lobby, bar, breakfast area are beautiful and very elegant. Our room was a tad on the small side as was the bathroom, but I really didn't mind especially for the wonderful price we got. I usually travel with the kids, but this stay was just with my husband so we didn't really need a lot of room. The location is a couple of blocks outside of the French Quarter which could be viewed as a positive or a negative. We enjoyed being a little outside of the French Quarter for the quietness factor (we went for food and definately drank but not really on Bourbon Street- it was a little dirty/gross for us). But the whole area surrounding the French Quarter isn't very nice at all. It was very reminscent of Downtown L.A. or Venice Beach (lots of homeless people loitering around, lots of interesting characters). With that being said, we didn't get harassed or asked for money or anything at all- it just surprised us because we were not expecting to be in a downtown sort of setting. We ate every morning in the Teddy Cafe in the hotel for coffee/tea and pastries and it was fairly priced and everything we ate was good. We ate in Domenica's for Happy Hour and had great pizza (the food is good and the happy hour prices are good so definately keep it in mind for a cheap meal). The walk into the quarter was very short, and with my husband we felt safe everytime even walking back around 11:00 at night. The hotel is close to the rail stops that can take you to the Garden District or Zoo area which makes renting a car a waste. I would definately stay at the Roosevelt again if I ever go back to New Orleans.

This is a top quality hotel in the heart of the city. The entrance is awesome in its decor and the rooms are very comfortable and well equipped. I guess for the quality you would not expect coffee making facilities in the room but I really am used to having that freedom these days!
The location is excellent for the night life of a very vibrant city as well as the Superdome not too far away. Some of the corridors were a little grubby which was surprising. I sell vacuum cleaners in the UK and perhaps they could use some.
The staff in reception and the restaurant and bars however were all excellent and vey helpful. Thank you to Amanda from Honduras who was particularly helpful on reception

My Husband and I went to New Orleans for the first time over Easter weekend. We stayed at the Roosevelt for 4 nights and overall I would say this hotel is 5 stars and worth the money.
Key Good Points:
1) Within walking distance to everything
2)Very Clean and staff is friendly
3) 24 hour room service
4) has been renovated to be clean and up to date
5)the pool is beautiful, however the sun isn't over it after 4:30, but it is heated and is very nice. There is a bar, but it closes at 6.
6) They have a fantastic Concierge
Negatives or things to know
1) Internet is $14.99 a day
2) Parking is $48 a DAY and this does include in and out, but you really don't want to drive anywhere
3) no coffee pot, and for a pot of coffee in room service (which it says is for 8-10 cups) it is $35, however we overcame this by my husband going down to Teddy's in the Lobby and buying two large coffees for $4 which were plenty big enough
4) You have very little control over the temperature in the room. We were on a lower floor and the room was still very warm.
Overall, even with what I listed above, this was a fantastic hotel for the location and we enjoyed our stay. If we return to New Orleans we would stay here again.

I stayed with a friend in a lovely room in Tower 1 during Final Four playoffs (the hotel wha sparked and energetic). The room was very nice- plush double beds, even if the room was not very big (older hotels in Nola generally have small rooms, no matter how luxurious they are). The bathroom had marble countertops and was equipped with a T3 hair dryer (primo!). The turndown service was fantastic- very professional and courteous housekeeping staff.

The restaurants were tasty, the lobby was beautiful, and the pool area (on a 4th floor rooftop) was modern and trendy, complete with Bali loungers and bar service. The mango mojito, while pricey at $14, was absolutely delicious.

My only two complaints- valet parking was outrageously expensive at $40/day and the bathroom door would not stay open unless propped with a heavy object, admittedly a minor annoyance.

Overall, the service was fantastic and it was a great stay.

What an amazing weekend it was in New Orleans! Even if the team of your choice did not move on, there was much fun and enjoyment to be had by all.
Thank you so much for the constructive comments in regards to parking and the bathroom door. We surely use our guest's feedback to continue to improve. If you are able to, I would greatly appreciate knowing more about your reservation to assist our Engineering team make any fixes as necessary.
And yes, the feedback given based on the hairdryers is quite in tune with many others'. Looks like we made the right decision! Thank you again for your review and being our guest. Please come and see us again soon.

I stayed at the property for work and enjoyed myself.

Great for all categories of travelers. Hotel decor was regal and consistent with the Waldorf brand. The hotel rooftop pool is heated and resort-like with cabanas and a poolside bar.

The only downfall is their limited room service menu but I guess more people dine out or at restaurant.

Two thumbs up!
