“Beautiful and elegant”
Reviewed 29 March 2014

We stayed at this hotel one night prior to leaving for a cruise from the Port of New Orleans. It was an excellent choice. This is an "old school" hotel - elegant and ornate. Our room was actually more like a suite, with a separate sitting area. We found the bed comfortable. The staff was very, very nice - and very efficient with our check in and check out.

We were steps away from the French Quarter and a short taxi drive away from the port.

Drinks were pricey but the atmosphere was very nice.

We booked this hotel for only one night at the tail end of our vacation to fill in where our first choice accommodations were not available. We found this to be a great place for a family of 4; the queen superior room was actually a mini-suite, offered lots of space. Beds comfy, bedding top-notch, hotel recently renovated and was gorgeous. Pool was nicely heated (it was unusually cold weather during our stay), unlike our other accommodations where pool was simply too cold to use to spite claims it was heated. And pool deck is very attractive, with a cool view of interesting cathedral right across the street. Hotel location a plus, just a few blocks to FQ. Only complaint was extra fee for wi-fi, should be free. Overall, we enjoyed this hotel much more than we expected to! Don't let location put you off, its a great deal for top-notch accommodations in an historic, charming hotel.

Beautiful large suite with archaic furniture, ample space, old shower fixture which worked intermittently, lumpy and very old mattress causing back pain and discomfort (ordinarily I'm fine in a fairly decent mattress, this "king" was actually made for a deposed dictator many decades ago, and obviously stored in a humid cell....) . Mostly quiet, windows painted and nailed shut, HVAC worked well, internet did not. Everything was clean and maid service quite adequate. Concierge was overworked, under-performed, not terribly interested, did not return calls or messages but did respond to personal visit. One of the concierges was friendly and helpful. Another, not so much. I didn't expect the unevenness of quality and service.

Room Tip: request and verify new mattress and quiet location; don't rely on concierge service

This was an exceptionally positive experience. I highly recommend the Roosevelt Hotel for a great stay in New Orleans. It is close to the French Quarter, but in a nice quiet area. The service is excellent and the hotel is elegant. The staff is exceptional and the services are well worth the expense. Enjoy a great stay in the Big Easy at the Roosevelt.

This beautiful hotel is nicely located close to the main tourist spots, but without all the late night street noise. It was easy to walk to most of what we wanted to get to. We had a suite for our family of four, which was not that spacious, but it did have a half bath in addition to the the full bath. This makes a huge difference for a family with kids. The room was a bit staid, but clean. Room service food was a little disappointing and definitely not up to the standards of what one would expect.

Overall, it was a nice stay, but we did have some negatives, which will influence our choice of where to stay the next time we are in town. The biggest negative was the total lack of concern or friendliness from some of the staff, especially the concierge. There was a nice lady who checked us in, I believe her name is Gabrielle, as well as, one of the doormen who were both helpful, but there was a definite coldness from most everyone else. The other big negative was the ridiculous price of $65/night for a rollaway bed. Nowhere on the website does it state this, so this came as an unexpected shock. Especially since we had phoned in our reservation and asked specifically about the policy for rollaway beds. We were told that it wasn't a problem and that they were available. No mention about the fee. It really isn't about the money, though this fee IS too high. It is about the feeling that you are being nickel and dimed and are part of a business transaction rather than a welcome guest.

My wife and I did a quick spur of the moment getaway. It rained the whole weekend so we had lots of room time. Rooms are large and very nicely appointed w great amenities. Good tv. Great bath rooms and very nice shower. The hotel lobby is by far one of the best on New Orleans. A true classic. The daze tax bar is cool but the wait staff and bartenders have a bad attitude. Better bet is to go across the street to Mila and sit at their bar. Fabulous and some of the best food in the whole city. The pool area on the roof of the Roosevelt is not real convenient but a very pretty space. More people watching than swimming. Good bar there. With the rain we only got a brief time there but it was nice. Overall this hotel has replaced the Ritz for me. Better value and and same location. FYI parking is expensive. But hey it's a fun getaway so why not! Go and splurge. Chef besh's restaurant is very good in hotel lobby. Also great for a pizza takeout in the room.

I choose to stay at the Roosevelt whenever possible. I regularly stay at the hotel (approx. 3 days a month) and I am never disappointed. This hotel is above and beyond all expectations, not to mention stunning. Excellent service begins the moment you walk up to the hotel. The staff is always eager to help and courteous.
