The location is absolutely perfect on Canal Street. You're maybe 5 blocks from Jackson Square, 2 blocks to Canal St shops & Harrahs, across the street from Bourbon and Royal, McDonalds, and Popeye's Chicken. Both of the main trolley stops are in front of the hotel, and the " City Sightseeing NO Hop On-Hop Off" was right there as well. ( we bought the 1 week ticket and used them to get around everywhere-- We were on the 21st floor ( fast elevators so no problems there at all) and the room was pretty small, the bathroom even smaller. A friend had a terrible bruise on her knee because her husband hit it with the door--yes, it's really that small.
My only compaint was the air conditioning wasn't cooling the room properly. They sent a tech up and he said he fixed the problem, but we couldn't tell the room was any cooler at all. The next two days the weather cooled down so the a/c was no longer a problem. I have to say that I really expect the air conditioning to keep up at a JW Marriott hotel -- even where it is hot and humid.
The bedding was excellent, we had a refrigerator, which was great. We only had one robe, which was stained (yuck) Housekeeping was very good,( very clean) I actually appreciated the fact that they didn't come until later in the day. I also enjoyed the free bottled water, HBO, and movies( although they were a gazillion $). We had room service several times and it was fast and the food was good. They had free internet in the bar area, but I found $15.00 per day a bit high -- after 5pm it didn't work worth a dime either which was very frustrating. All said I would stay here again because of the price, location and the staff were pretty nice too :)

Elegant hotel located in the Business District on Canal Street just 5 minutes walk to Bourbon Street in French Quarter. The hotel has attentive service and nice rooms with comfy beds and hot showers with bathtub.

You have the convenience of being close to the attractions of French Quarter while having a high end hotel with newer facilities and pool. There's complimentary water and wifi in the lobby.

Overall, a perfectly located classy hotel near the French Quarter without all the wild noise of Bourbon Street. If you do want to be in the middle of the action, then you are just a 5 min walk away!

Dear trojanlili,

What a wonderful review. We're so happy to hear that you enjoyed your recent stay here at the JW Marriott New Orleans. You mentioned a few of our very favorite things about the hotel, including magnificently comfortable beds and WiFi in the lobby. These features reflect our overarching efforts to ensure that all of our guests feel at home from the moment they check in.

Of course, even with all the great things going on inside the hotel, it's impossible to ignore our location. As you said, the JW is uniquely positioned so that you can access the action when you're in the mood, and enjoy peace and quiet when you want to get away from it all. Thanks again, and we hope to see you soon!

Sincerely,

Ted Selogie

Elegant hotel located on Canal Street in the Business District just 5 minutes walk from Bourbon Street in French Quarter. You get the convenience of being close to the attractions while staying at a nice luxury hotel with newer facilities.

The bed is comfy, and the water from the shower with bathtub are nice and hot. The AC works very well, and there's also a pool.

Overall, a great hotel to stay at when in NOLA. The service is attentive, and the location is perfect. You can actually sleep at night since you are not in the loud French Quarter, but you can be...just 5 min walk away!

I stayed at this property with my fiance for a weekend getaway. At first, we had trouble finding the hotel and actually went to the Marriott accross the street by mistake. We did not realize this until we tried to check in and were directed to the correct property. On our way to the right hotel we could not locate the valet entrance; it is actually located in the back of the hotel. We finally realized we had to go down a side street and turn into the alley to reach it. Once we arrived, the valet was sufficient and the lobby was nice. My first impression was that the JW lobby was extremely smaller than the Marriott, though it was also extremely quieter. Our room was very nice and had a great view of the city, though kind of small. The bed was very comfortable: there were a lot of comfy pillows! The location was great; we were in walking distance to everything and there was a hop-on hop-off bus stop located directly in front of the hotel. All in all, the hotel is a nice, quiet, place to stay for a more sophisticated crowd.

The location and lobby is great. Location is within walking distance of Bourbon Street, hop on a Street Car or bus and so many restaurants/bars. The hotel staff was extremely nice and very helpful. When we checked-in we originally had a room by the elevator entrance that was noisy and they were able to move us to another room away from the elevator. The hotel is an octagon shape so I thought we were not going to be able to get away from the noise but luckily we did being on the backside of the elevator. The hotel room was not what I was expecting from JW Marriott. The room did not match the lobby and bar area. Room is dated but it was clean. Bathroom is extremely small and only one person at a time could be in it. Thank goodness they have 2 additional mirrors in the room that I could use while my husband was using the bathroom. Overall a good place to stay and hopefully next time we visit, the rooms will have been updated by then.
