Staff are warm and friendly. I attended for a business conference and was searching the area for the coffee station. I saw a staff member in what I thought was catering attire; he offered to help me and when we confirmed the coffee station had been broken down already, he grabbed me a fresh coffee from the kitchen. It turned out he is the head chef, and still made time to help me! Thank you for the same great service from every staff member I communicated with.

Initial impression was very good, modern, very central. welcome staff excellent. A 29 hour flight so was frustrating that checkin was a nightmare. Although members, he couldn't find details anywhere although I had 3 times said email and spelt name. After 20 minutes he listened correctly. We had booked a superior corner suite. I rang down and said we had the wrong room because it was so tiny and only 1 chair for us. Nope, their all miniscule rooms with mini bathroom. No instructions for the coffee maker and never managed to work it. This hotel is FREEZING! downstairs in the bar we had to wear coats due to the cold and permanently open breezeway. even the staff agreed. The hallways are also super cold. We had paid to be in the club which was a joke. Breakfast finished at 9am,, we're on holiday. No alcohol.no food except some meagre chips or biscuits. Also super cold. It was an apology for a club. The concierge was brilliant and helpful and the greeting staff so friendly. The location is excellent.

We stayed at the JW Marriott as part of a Mardi Gras package with a travel group. It had been a few years since our last stay but it was obvious that the hotel had undergone a substantial renovation. We had a king corner room on a lower floor, the view wasn’t great but we were two rooms away from our friends, so we were happy. The room was clean and updated. We loved the shampoo/conditioner/body wash, which were in large bottles but not affixed to the wall of the shower (and easy to identify while showering). Mardi Gras is a big event in New Orleans and obviously the hotel was pretty full. The only impact was a line for the elevators after parades ended because everyone would come back to the hotel at the same time. We remedied this situation by going to the lobby bar. The bartenders were busy but very efficient and nice. The (bar) table service was nonexistent but we were able to easily place our food and beverage orders at the bar. I think the only non-bar dining spot was the Fogo de Chao on the ground floor. We didn’t try it but it looked well attended. There is an outdoor pool on the 8th floor. Rumor was that it was heated but it didn’t seem to be. We tried swimming on the warm day of our stay - a bit cold. The fitness center was well equipped and very clean. Wagner at the front desk was a star. He made us feel like we were very important, recognizing us and even calling us by our names when he saw us. He went out of his way to take care of little issues that popped up during our 6 nights. The hotel is in a great location, at the intersection of St Charles and Canal. It was very convenient to the French Quarter. We would definitely stay there again.

Beautiful city view. however, they do not compete with their JW member club when you compare it to the Marriot New Orleans. The M club at the Marriot is bigger, more choices, and have a grill to order for breakfast. You would think if you paid a higher room rate at the JW, you would have better amenities. Other than that, I still love the JW brand...

This was a great hotel for enjoying a long weekend in NOLA. The location was ideal with easy access to the French Quarter as well as the street car line. If you have Marriott status the concierge lounge is really nice perk (we enjoyed the billiards). I would definitely stay again.

Came here for a conference and this was a great place to stay. It is across the street from the French Quarter and yet being across Canal, there is plenty of ability to not be overwhelmed by the Quarter. Comfortable conference rooms and the food was good (although I ran off to my favorite spots instead of staying in the hotel for all the conference meals). Comfortable room that is a little smaller because rooms in NOLA are always smaller than other places. Quiet room with great blackout curtains. Big bathroom and ours had a roll in shower (even though we didn't ask for or need it, so I don't know if it was an ADA room or if all rooms have a roll in shower). Friendly and helpful staff. Would be happy to stay here again even without a conference.

My family stayed at the JW again and nothing has changed. The staff was excellent, professional and friendly and the hotel rooms were nice and clean. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars was because when the temp dropped outside (28 degrees) there were pools of water on the ledge of the window seal. I mean lots of water. Other than that, the place was great.

Starting with the good, the location is excellent. It's right on Canal Street and directly across from the French Quarter so it's easy to get to the tourist attractions without being in the midst of the noise. There were no bedbugs! Many hotels I looked at within the French Quarter were plagued with bedbugs. The room was new and beautifully appointed. I appreciated the ample seating areas and storage, the handheld shower, and the makeup mirror. Something that was "wrong" but didn't bother me enough to ask to be moved is that I specifically booked a French Quarter view room, but I was placed in a Canal Street view room. This means that unfortunately, I missed out on getting waterfront views. Here's what went poorly - the soundproofing in the rooms is the absolute worst of all the many (many!) hotels I've ever stayed at. I legitimately looked around the room to see if there were any holes in the wall - it was that bad. I could clearly hear conversations in the rooms next to mine, and I was woken up early in the morning by those neighbors of mine. The hotel does provide earplugs, but be warned. Another thing that was terrible and inexcusable was that the shower water pressure was very low, to the point that the water coming from the showerhead felt like light raindrops on my skin. It was damn near impossible to wash my hair. I talked to the front desk - I kid you not - three separate times to ask that it be fixed. I stayed here five nights and they had plenty of time to fix the issue or offer to move me to another room. I cannot tell whether they never sent someone to fix it or if they did send someone and they didn't do anything, but this floored me. This level of service (or lack thereof) is inexcusable for a JW Marriott. Also, the phone and safe were not working. It took me asking twice for the phone to be fixed for it to actually be fixed. Overall, this hotel is in a fantastic location, but the issues around the noise, lack of completion of requests, and putting me in the wrong room type meant that for me, it did not live up to the JW Marriott brand, it did not meet my expectations, and it's not worth the cost.

Our stay was simply wonderful! My family of four stayed at the JW Marriott New Orleans for 5 days over Christmas. I have been to NOLA several times, but this was the first trip for the wife and kids. From looking at a map, I was worried that this location would not be close enough to several French Quarter attractions. However, the location is simply perfect - 2 minutes from Bourbon, but on the other side of Canal so that noise and other disruptions are not an issue. Moreover, this property deserves the highest star rating that exists. Rooms and common areas were immaculate. Last but definitely not least, all of the hospitality professionals went out of their way to make our stay memorable. Annabelle at the front desk and Marc Shuminer showed extraordinary attention and kindness during our stay. They both really made our holiday season. I would easily put this property up against the Ritz or the Roosevelt as the best family friendly hotels in NOLA. This is the only place we will stay in when we return!

The hotel is clean and beautiful in a perfect location. It was well appointed and maintained. I had an issue with my flight and Wagner at the front desk was so helpful - he’s my New Orleans hero. I will definitely stay here again!
