This was our 2nd trip to New Orleans and tried a different hotel than last time. We were here for 4 nights. We had a courtyard room (#128) and absolutely loved it. The hotel is located in the middle of the French Quarter - half a block from Jackson Square & 1 1/2 blocks from Bourbon Street. The lobby was neat, clean and well organized. All the staff members we dealt with were personable and helpful (especially Trevor). They have valet parking, so your car isn't accessible unless you go thru the valet. (Actually, they take your car up in an elevator to a parking ramp next door.) The room we had was clean, spacious, beautifully decorated. The beds were comfortable with 4 pillows on each bed. The large flat screen TV had 40+ channels. There were 2 luggage racks. There was no work desk only end tables with chairs. We had to set up our laptop on the end table. The wifi wasn't working the first night, but it was fixed the next day and worked the rest of our stay. Also, there was no refrigerator or microwave (having them would have been nice so you could bring back restaurant leftovers). There was a coffeemaker. The bathroom was large and very clean due to the excellent housekeepers. Our location was very quiet. The upstairs portion over our room is privately owned and not part of the hotel. Breakfast was a little sparse - coffee, juice, croissants, & pastries (but there are lots of restaurants nearby that serve breakfast ). Can't wait to go back!

Room Tip: Our courtyard room was very private and quiet.

So I've stayed here before and selected the hotel again based on it's location and street facing balcony with two beds. We were lucky enough to get a private balcony which is much larger and accessible directly from the room. However they have installed an unfinished plywood ramp that takes up 90% of the balcony. There is barely enough room to put a single chair in front of the ramp. Also you did not want to walk out there barefoot because of splinter risk. It's very strange because it was obviously built to make the balcony handicap accessible, but the bathroom is not. The bathroom is crazy small, which I already knew, with no handicap bars of any sort. There was also a lot of mold in the shower. I will not be staying here again mostly because of the quality of the beds, unfriendly staff, and dirtiness of the rooms. All the staff was very unfriendly except for the valet who was very nice. Room 301 two double beds and balcony.

Room Tip: pay close attention to room descriptions, some balconies are open to public

The best part of this hotel that it's right in the middle of all the action. It is within walking distance of nice restaurants, bars, art galleries, stores, etc. The hotel has a beautiful garden that gave it a very Victorian, serene feeling. It also has a pool even though it was too cold to swim. The breakfast can use some variety and I think that really was the only negative about this hotel. It's also a bit dated but I don't think that really matters if you consider all the positives.

Room Tip: The room with no windows eliminates the noise and there is no sun waking you up

I stayed for a week while on vacation. My friend and I had booked a room with a window, and we were sent to a room without a window. After speaking with the management, we got moved to a different room for the rest of our stay. The breakfasts were fresh and delicious every morning and the staff was helpful and friendly! The Place d'Armes is right in the heart of the French Quarter. It's very close to Bourbon st, Cafe DuMonde, and all kinds of other fabulous places, but we didn't hear any noise from the streets! I would stay there again in a heartbeat!

Room Tip: Make sure to request a room with a window, or you'll be left in the dark! Rooms facing hte courtyard are lovely!

It's been a number of years since we've been here. Service is good and people very friendly and helpful looking for something in the French Quarter. This hotel is a couple of hundred years old, but still nice and cozy. It is located 1/2 block away from Jackson Square, 1 block from Café DuMonde, where you can get café au lait and beignets, yum. The hotel is also one block from shopping on Royal Street and two from Bourbon Street. It's in the thick of things, meaning restaurants, bars, and River attractions. The hotel has a small pool and cozy courtyard shaded by a couple of huge Magnolia trees. Complimentary breakfast goodies, coffees and juices are served from 7am. There are elevators for those who cannot climb stairs. What a New Orleans Quarter feel here. We will always stay here if visiting the Crescent City for any length of time.

Room Tip: Rooms 208,308,408 and 508 are small suites and are the best in the hotel. Remember though that this is an old but nice hotel and doesn't fit the mold of the newer hotels. This feels more like a bed and breakfast than a hotel.
