“LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION!!!”

Place d'Armes was the original name for Jackson Square and this place is aptly named as it is only steps from Jackson Square. The location here is perfect if you are looking to stay in the French Quarter. The French Quarter is an excellent place for wondering around at any hour and this hotel is centrally located. It is less than 2 blocks from the Cafe du Monde, less than 2 blocks from Bourbon Street, less than 2 blocks from Saint Louis Cathedral, etc.

The building is old so the rooms are smaller than a new suburban motel. Some of them have balconies. Some have no windows. The hotel has parking. Parking anywhere in the French Quarter is a problem and expensive. You really don't need a car in the French Quarter.

The rate includes a continental breakfast and coffee with chicory. The wi fi is slow and does not allow you to use Netflix. I am not sure if this is common in hotels, but it is the first time I encountered it. The rooms were clean and the staff was courteous.

I know New Orleans well. I love the French Quarter. I have been staying at Place d'Armes intermittently for more than 20 years. I highly recommend it if your visit to New Orleans will be centered around the French Quarter.

Room Tip: This hotel has rooms with no windows. I always book these when available. It is quirky and, I think...

We stayed at this hotel June 23rd for 1 night. I chose this hotel because it offered parking and because it was right in the French Quarter. Thought it might be hard to find a spot on the street. I was right!i. The hotel was a block from Jackson Square and within walking distance of everything in the French Quarter. I was very pleased with the hotel. It was charming. Our room was towards the back of the property past the pool. The room was very large with a wet bar. The toilet and shower were in a separate room from the sink. There was a safe in the closet. The room was clean and very well stocked. The hotel offers a free breakfast. My husband went to get our breakfast so I really can't say much about the breakfast offered. The first night we were at the hotel we took the Haunted History tour and boy was I surprised that the first stop on the tour was the Place d'Armes Hotel! We never saw or heard anything scary. It was a pleasant stay and I most definitely would stay at this property again. Ps... There is a charge for parking but well worth it if you stay in the French Quarter! If you get the chance go and visit the Oak Alley Plantation. It's gorgeous! Skip the expensive mint julep. It's gross unless you like alcohol with mint. Lol. Have fun!

Room Tip: Our room number was 127. It's at the back of the property in a quaint courtyard. Very quiet. No...

This hotel is located right in the middle of everything. Employees where helpful and very nice. Thy had a nice little pool area and cute courtyard. Our room was very nice, but next to the street could hear cars going by and people walking by our window. Breakfast was not the best offering they had coffee and juice but other than that they only offered pastry's and muffins. We don't eat sweets for breakfast so was quite disappointing at least the hotel could of offered bagels with cream cheese as another choice, that and coffee and we would be good to go. Other then just being disappointed at breakfast time hotel is great and we will stay here again when we return to New Orleans.

Room Tip: room 129 is a great room just located next to the street where you can hear the cars and people walk...

My husband and i stayed at Place D'Armes for 4 nights. It is very centrally located in the French Quarter. It is close to everything! 2 minute walk to Royal St, 2 minute walk to Decatur St/Jackson Square and a 4 minute walk to Boubon St.We stayed in an interior room at the front of the building on the second floor right above the breakfast area. It was spacious and had 2 arch windows for great people watching. We never heard any noise from the breakfast room below. The people across the hall from us were very loud but when staying in a very old/historic hotel, this cannot be avoided i suppose. The courtyard and pool were amazing! The front desk staff were very friendly. There are so many different styles of rooms to choose from and many say that this place is haunted. We will definitely stay here again.

PROS:
This charming hotel is absolutely beautiful! Rooms where beautifully decorated (we had an interior windowless room as this is all they had left when booking and where pleasantly surprised). The grounds and pool are lovely beautiful to sit in for breakfast.
Breakfast is perfect, OJ, coffee, croissants and pastries & fruit-perfect start to the day authentically French style.
Location is second to none! I would definately stay here again if only for the outstanding location which pretty much made our 2night trip!

CONS:
Service was very poor. Check in staff made us feel like a complete inconcenience & where pretty much no help in advising us about NOLA.
During check out we stored our luggage and when we returned it was understandably busy-it just meant we had to wait on the bell boy to get our bags for about 20mins. We still tipped him and he looked at our tip & rolled his eyes-unnecessarily rude.
We arrived approx 4pm & left approx 3pm and left our car in their car park. We where very surprised to hear we owed an extra $18 ontop of the 48hr parking we had already paid. Appparently on the day you check out the parking runs out at 1pm-so watch this guys! Just another bug bear (signs state parking is charged hourly or 24hourly).

All in all the location outweighs the negatives and we where still glad we stayed here. They just need to sort out their staff& parking.

This hotel is fantastic. It's located right by the Cathedral and is close to everything. The one and only down side I encountered was the shower. Poor pressure, poor drainage, and the hot water was not easy to come by. As long as you're not expecting perfection you'll be very happy with your stay. Check-in is not until 4pm... which sucks, but they will gladly stow your luggage for you and deliver to your room after you check in. We were able to take advantage of the day thanks to their great service and hospitality.

Room Tip: Rooms on the southern side are more quiet and also give you a breath taking view of the cathedral, s...

I took my adult son to New Orleans for his first trip there, so we decided to stay in the middle of the French Quarter. When I found that the Place d'Armes was right next to Jackson Square, I knew this was the perfect location.
