If you want a quiet, charming and effortless New Orleans B&B experience, The Chimes is perfect. The location really can't be beat; you could spend ages exploring the Garden District and Magazine St. alone, but then there's the fantastic streetcar right there for a quick, cheap trip into town and the Quarter. We stayed for a holiday weekend, and even though the place was booked, it was quiet and we felt catered to as if we were the only guests. The breakfast was very fresh and lovely, continental style which is an excellent way to start a day of touring in a city with such opulent food choices. Owner Jill was friendly and relaxed, helpful and super knowledgeable in all the right measures, and staying at The Chimes really felt more like staying at a friend's guest cottage. We will be back.

Room Tip: We stayed in one of the smallest rooms and it was perfectly proportioned for a couple on a weekend...

My mum and I stayed at Chimes B&B a couple of weeks ago for 3 nights. The experience was fantastic!

It is well located in the Garden District, in a lovely building with lots of character. nThis gives you an idea of the typical mansions and houses of the area.

Jill, the host, is very friendly and helpful. Her hints helps us make the most of our visit.

I am looking forward to going back to New Orleans and will definately stay at Chimes B&B!

This is the experience you hope to find in a B and B but hardly ever do: comfort, care, beauty, tranquility, friendliness/ helpfulness without intrusiveness, generosity, warmth, charm, convenience--all in great abundance.

PS~If you love generic, cookie cutter hotels or crave what the seamy French Quarter has to offer don't stay here.

PPS~ The owners are having some work done to the house in the summer of 2013 so The Chimes will be closed for that time.

Room Tip: We stayed in No.5 which is one of the smaller rooms but it was still roomy and comfortable, especial...

I have been coming to The Chimes for years now. It is without a doubt the friendliest and most agreeable place I stay of anywhere I travel. Period. Jill and Charles are terrific hosts. Questions? They've got a solution or a suggestion. They know just about everything about the City and everybody there. Jill knows the music scene very well. They recently helped me with a raincoat and boots when I arrived unprepared.

The rooms are well appointed and have AC, TV and wi-fi. The bed I slept on was one of the most comfortable bed away from home I've ever known. The breakfast is the just what I need to start the day (fruit, pastries, homemade yogurt, oh, and the best coffee in New Orleans! True fact.).

The Chimes is in the Uptown district and not far from Tipitina's as well as many fine restaurants. You do need a car, imho, although you are just a short stroll from the St. Charles streetcar if you prefer P-trans.

Room Tip: I always stay in Room 5.

We had a wonderful experience at the Chimes Bed and Breakfast. It was very comfortable and very clean. Our hostess Jill was so welcoming and knowledgeable about anything you needed to know to make your visit to NOLA more enjoyable. We enjoyed that we had an oasis of calm to return to after a busy day of seeing the city and the safe environment which allowed us to walk to many good restaurants and shops. We will definitely go back when visiting NOLA in the future!

We just spent a wonderful week at the Chimes. Our room was the smallest on the property but very comfortable none the less. Jill, the owner, is a wonderful hostess, who really has a great gift for knowing what guests will need for their stay. She is amazingly thoughtful, readily prepared with good quality maps to lend, umbrellas for rainy days, sun screen for sunny days, aloe for the sunny days when you forget the sunscreen, restaurant recommendations, and a great knowledge of New Orleans, where to go for the adventurous, where not to go for the not so adventurous, etc. Breakfast pastries come from the nearby French bakery on Magazine street, accompanied by delicious coffee New Orleans style, whole wheels of cheese, and delicious ripe melons and fruit. We will look no further for our home away from home when visiting this fun city.

We had a wonderful trip to New Orleans for the French Quarter Festival. Staying away from that madhouse is important, though, and The Chimes' location in the garden district was a welcome retreat. Side note if you're looking to be in the French Quarter...this is not your place.
We enjoyed being able to walk around the neighborhood, seeing the grand homes and eating at the multitude of restaurants along magazine st.
The owners, Jill and Charles, we very welcoming hosts and we enjoyed getting to know them.
We will certainly be back when we visit Nola again!
