“Excellent hotel, great location”
Reviewed 5 October 2011

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights during our tour of the Southern States. It is nice that it has maintained the character of the surrounding area. Our room (908) was more like a suite with sofa, kingsize bed, flat screen TV, fridge, microwave and safe. The room had really large windows which is a characteristic of of this older type of building which is something I particularly like. It was a really lovely room and the aircon worked well without being too noisey.

The location is perfect - a couple of blocks from all the action. You may pass a beggar or too along the way but they are not troublesome.

The complimentary breakfast was lovely. Fresh fruit salad, yoghurts and a selction of pastries - you need a balance!

When you walk in the lobby it feels more like walking into a shopping centre than a hotel which I found alittle odd, but you don't really spend much time in the lobby anyway.
New Orleans is a great place and if I get the opportunity to return I would definitely look up this hotel.

We were very happy during our three night stay. Great location and a great staff coupled with a pretty nice room. Another plus was the elevator service. We were on the ninth floor yet we never had a wait of any duration at any time in either direction. The complimentary hot breakfast was better that expected.

I will give one warning however, the water can be very hot in an instant, make sure you have the temperature you want before committing any part of your body!

This is a great hotel in a great location very close to Bourbon Street. If you are staying more than 1 night and want to unpack your suitcase, make sure you ask for a room with a dresser. Not all rooms have one. They have a great breakfast and a manager’s dinner (on Wednesdays). They have good local food and wine/beer. This place is a steal and very convenient.

We recently spent a 4 day 3 night stay at the Hampton Inn. After reading some of the previous reviews we were a little leary but couldn't beat the proximity and price. We are extremely glad we stayed. The staff was very friendly. The room was clean, comfortable and VERY spacious. The distance from the "action" was extremely close (well within walking distance) however once we returned to the hotel it seemed like we were miles away. The breakfast was fantastic. Would recommend to others and will definitely stay again!

I travel to New Orleans 3-4 times a year and have stayed in numerous hotels. This trip my friends and I chose the Hampton out of necessity as most other hotels in our price range, near the French Quarter, were booked during JazzFest. We were all pleasantly surprised. The rooms are extremely roomy. The hotel is in a good location. It is only a couple of blocks from Bourbon and Canal Street. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful when we had questions. The hotel was clean. The linens were nice and the area was extremely quiet. I would stay here again as long at the rate was reasonable.

I got an Internet rate of $99 per night which included valet parking. The location was good and the place was quiet. I could not hear people in other rooms. I thought the free breakfast was better than most and included both hot and cold items. there was a little mold in the shower and the room had a slight musty smell, but I think that may be common in a place that is so humid all the time.

We stayed here for 5 nights in the Fall. Very nice location to walk to the French Quarter, but far enough away to be nice and quiet. In very busy times, the staff seemed to get a bit rattled, but otherwise the service was good. Our room was very roomy with a mini fridge and a microwave. The bathroom needed updating, but it was clean and serviceable. All in all, good stay. We would stay here again.
