Why 1 lonely star? The hotel is fine, the location is great, but someone at the front desk and the manager don't understand simple math, hospitality, or customer service. Initially they tried to charge us for a week when we were staying for 4 nights. OK -they're going to remove the charge. Then they tried charging THREE different amounts that the bank fortunately stopped, but they let a charge for $220 go through. We checked out and paid and have the receipt. They can't even tell us WHY they charged us an extra $220 after the fact. They LITERALLY DO NOT KNOW -but are they willing to refund it? NO. Are they offering us anything like a free night or even a discount on a future stay? NO. They've been surly, rude, and completely unhelpful. At this point I wonder if they're running some sort of scam. Sorry, Hampton Inn, but most people need a REASON for an extra $220 charge. Even corporate was no help. Oh well, they've lost two loyal Hampton Inn customers for life.

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else where you won't be on the phone with the hotel, corporate and your bank for...

Located 1.5 blocks from Bourbon Street, this hotel offers a great location - close enough to quarter to walk to it, but far enough away t from the craziness of Bourbon Street. In fact, other than a quick walk through, we spent no time on Bourbon, but instead focused our attention on the quaint streets of Royal and Charte.

The hotel offers free breakfast everyday. Our room was spacious and the beds were very comfortable. The staff was very friendly and wiling to assist with directions and reserving a cab. The streetcar runs just out from if you are looking to go to the south end of Canal or or to the Garden District and points west.

The best part is that the price was very competitive- less expensive than some of the bigger hotels nearby.

I would definitely stay here the next year when I plan to attend Jazz Fest again.

Room Tip: We stayed on 14th floor. The only bad part was that our roon was adjacent to the fitness center so...

Just spent 3 nights in New Orleans and enjoyed my stay at the Hampton Inn Downtown. Great location near the French Quarter, and close to the Streetcar line. The Hampton Inn is in a classic building with rooms with large ceiling and nicely decorated. The Breakfast room was one of the nicest I have seen, with excellent staff and very accommodating. Had a problem with bathroom sink which could not be fixed, was offered a new room for the night at no charge!. The Hampton Inn has a Satisfaction Guarantee that can't be beat! I would definitely stay at this location again!

Room Tip: Ask for room with a view, not a back wall.

In less than two blocks one is crossing Canal Street to Bourbon without missing a beat. The trolley connecting to everywhere stops in front of the hotel, $1.25/ride. Location, location, location. Quiet rooms. Top notch breakfast. Expert valet parking. Men on the luggage moving equipment make it easy for you and will help repack your car. Responsive front desk with rescue snacks. Angel on duty posing as phone operator. Larger rooms. We'd go back in a heartbeat if I could.

Room Tip: The safe in room 506 needs a drop of oil or gentle pressure on the door to help the latch work on th...

super location 1 block from Canal Street & French Quarter, St. Charles Streetcar is right out the front door. quiet, excellent room, helpful staff. They were able to arrange early check-in and the room was large, quiet, the entry is secure at night and the breakfast is is good and consistent with other Hampton Inns. We will be back.

There are a LOT of lodging options in New Orleans, so the Hampton has to work hard to stand out. Had a nice 5-day stay recently, and would happily consider going back. The building is a classic office building, and the conversion resulted in extra spacious rooms - high ceilings and plenty of big windows (make sure you fully draw the black-out curtains if you plan to sleep past sunrise). Oddly, though, the bathroom is Hampton-standard, and kind of at odds with the otherwise comfortably furnished (and recently remodeled?) room. Breakfast area was busy, but they tried hard to keep up with the masses. Selection was fine, if a bit lacking in proteins on some days. Other than the breakfast room (always open) no public spaces to speak of. CBD Location is the best of all worlds - steps off Canal and the Quarter (Bourbon St), on the St. Charles streetcar line, and walkable to the warehouse district. Got an especially great price, but would have been good value even if it cost more. Never had any reason to need special service, but staff seemed competent enough. Room was OK temperature, but air seemed to wait until the room got a bit too hot before cycling back on - hope that this would not be a problem during hotter weather months.

I stayed here while on a combo business trip / getaway weekend with my husband and it was fantastic! The location could not have been more perfect. It was only two blocks from Bourbon Street and a very easy walk over there. It was nice to be close to everything but not have to hear all the craziness outside our window all night. In addition, the hotel is right on the street car line so it was a quick 10 minute streetcar ride over to the World War II museum. I would definitely stay here again if I come back to New Orleans.
