“Great rooms and amenities”
Reviewed 16 May 2014

The room was very large and well appointed. It is close to the French Quarter but far enough away to be quiet. The free breakfast was excellent. We got multiple calls to confirm our satisfaction with our room. Bell staff was very helpful with getting taxis. Would definitely return.

Good hotel. Construction across the street. City garbage collection was on Wed. about 4 a.m., below the rooms facing the street that turns into Bourbon Street, and they are noisy. Takes about 15 minutes. Construction dumpster pickup was about 3:30 a.m. the night before. Rooms were quiet other than that. Rooms were clean, and staff was friendly. Breakfast was good.

This was our first visit to New Orleans and we were delighted we had chosen this hotel. The location was ideal because it is in a quietish area away from all the noise of the French Quarter yet it is only a few minutes walk to Bourbon Street and the rest of the French Quarter. Also, there are trolleys/trams close by which will take you to the Garden District which is worth a visit. We have stayed at many Hampton Inns and this one was up to their usual high standard. We just love their king size beds which are so comfortable. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. The only complaint we had was that we could only stay for 2 nights ! Will definitely be back in New Orleans - and at this Hampton.

We reserved this hampton for a 3 night stay, sat - sun - mon. A friend had stayed there recently and reported it was good, but not great. In checking prices it was a bit less expensive than other similar budget chains in the area. All charge very high rates for Fri or Sat. This is a downtown unit that was originally built as an office or business building that has been converted to a hotel. We reserved a king study. While it was larger than a normal king or queen room, and it had a sofa, it had a very unusual long "hallway" you had to go thru after you entered the room to get to the sleeping area - I think they include this unusable hallway space in the sq ft of the room. We were on 10th floor, and I think hotel has 14 floors. Breakfast area is on 4th floor. Breakfast was good, with some minor selection changes daily. Room had "no view" and we could only see the sides of other buildings. Downtown location resulted in some late night noise from emergency vehicle sirens, but it is a few blocks away from noisy bourbon st and you will not hear noise from that area. I was awoken on two nights in the early morning hours by loud truck engine and banging, which I think was trash truck emptying dumpster. We valet parked for 3 nights but never used our car until we checked out as we were able to walk to most areas we wanted to see, just five minute walk to bourbon st area. Staff was friendly with bellman and valet - check in was a bit slow. Room was clean, bed was good. Overall this was OK and a good value, nothing bad, but nothing great either.

Great place to stay away from the Bourbon Street atmosphere, but close enough to see what happens. Great dining choices close, Garden district close. Able to walk to multiple places. Dining top notch close by and not trendy names for New Orleans. Historical Hotel to boot. Have stayed here multiple times and know this is the best kept secret around.

Easy stroll to French Quarter but away from the crowds and noise. St. Charles Ave. cable car stops just outside the door for transportation to the World War II museum and the Garden District. We thank our friends who recommended this hotel.

Of all the Hampton Inns we've stayed in, this is one of the best. The old and elegant building is centrally located downtown within walking distance to everything. The rooms are very modern, huge, very comfortable and quiet. We were there for our 6th Jazz Fest and the peace and quiet was a welcome respite from the wonderful mayhem of Jazz Fest!
