Chuck was incredibly attentive during the booking process and also I really appreciated him bothering to call me the day before to check what time I'd be arriving the next day. Thank you Chuck for that and your warm welcome.
We didn't see Chuck after our arrival but that was fine since we are fairly independent but it would have been nice to have had a "are you all ok and need anything" conversation during our stay, but as I say, no big deal really.
The location of the guesthouse is absolutely perfect. Close enough to all the action of Bourbon Street but also far enough away when it all gets too much and you need time out.
The reason for the poor review is down to the cleanliness of the place plus the smell. Towels with holes, air vents with clods of dust, towel rail temperamental and the shower cubicle had a half used shampoo from the previous guests and generally felt like it needed some care and attention. All of these grumbles could be remedied easily with some care and attention and a quick room check prior to guests arrivals.
The biggest problem was the smell of smoke that infiltrated our room. It was horrendous. Not sure where it was coming from but some one was heavily smoking. The worst thing was that our suitcases and clothes wreaked of it once we left which was disgusting so we had to wash them all at our next stop of a long road trip. We were really unhappy about this hence the poor rating as it really was so smelly and ruined our stay.
